Toys : Transformers Movie Leader Optimus Prime

In association with Amazon.com

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Optimus Prime. not like the original but still tons of fun
about 18 years ago i had the original die cast optimus prime. this had to be purchased as although im now well grown up, im still a big kid.

First impressions:

This is not a kids toy. its for grown-ups, fans of the original. It feels sturdy enough, but drop it a few times and i can see arms and legs breaking off.

Transformation:

It took me about 30 mins to do this first and second time, but its getting easier and i can now do it without the instructions. you have to force some pieces and feel you will break it at times, but its sturdy enough not to break. very tough to transform though . no way i could have done this as a kid, even as a 12 year old I think this would have been a challenge

Value.
Definately not worth the cost. too plasticy. i would have rathered it to be diecast rather than plastic. should be at least 20-30 dollars cheaper

overall.

Great toy for grownups. this will be on my desk at work, or on the mantle piece beside my treebeard and other such models. not for kids though

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - a must own
I think that this is a great new toy of optimus prime
but i dont think i would be paying the price it is going for now
I still thought $40 was wow not cheap but worth it.
the megatron toy is not easy to change either so i just leave it in its standing postion.
when i try to change it from standing form to truck wow it takes some time even though i have had transformers for a long time.
I just leave them in vechicle mode much easier
WEll I see nothing wrong with metal toys which were made back in the 80's and now they are all plastic boo. Toy recalls on everything these days oh wow.
well transformers are not being recalled so that is a good thing
a must own toy but watch out for the price.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - OVER PRICED!
This product is too overpriced, I mean, 84.95 when you can go to your local store and get it for $39.99, Who ever set this price is really ripping the paying costumer off! as for the toy, well its just simply great!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Not your Daddy's Optimus Prime!
This is an awesome toy. Good quality, good materials, and very good fit and finish. The attention to detail is pretty amazing on this autobot. I will agree with other reviews that this really shouldn't be for kids 5 and under. I would recommend this toy for an 8-10 year old.
Unlike the old transformers of yesteryear, this one is VERY difficult to transform, at least the first couple of times. But that is also where the fun is. the instructions are so-so, and therefore you will have to do some trial and error to get it right.
good luck finding this toy; I went to 6 stores until I finally found one (the last one, too). Do not overpay for this toy though. It retails for 39.99 USD. One last thing: if you buy it, play with it; it is a real shame to keep this one in the box.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Beautiful Truck - Lousy Robot
I bought this Transformer for my 5 year-old grandson. It came in the Robot form. Just getting it out of the box was a chalenge because it was wired in a manner that made removing the twist ties without a wire cutter very difficult. Transforming it into the truck was very complicated and it took a while for my son and I to do it with the cartoon picture instructions provided. (I am an engineer and my son is a computer genius.) Once transformed into a truck, my grandson played with it for a while and tried to change it back to a robot with no sucess. I found it difficult to transform it even after I had done it myself once. He may play with the truck sometimes, but probably not the robot. He really loved the battery operated horn and headlights.

I reccoment buying a truck and a robot separately for a child. It would be far cheaper.
