My husband and I bought this as a Christmas present for our 5-year-old, even after reading all of the reviews imploring us to reconsider. It was very difficult to transform the first time, and the directions are truly next to useless.

My husband ended up searching on YouTube and found a 15+ minute video in which some wonderful person took the time to show how to transform the robot step by step. After seeing the demonstation and helping to transform it once, my son somehow managed to teach himself how to transform it from truck to robot and back. So, I know it can be done, even by little kids, but your child would have to be as motivated as my son was to figure it out.

Oh, but do not pay the price Amazon currently has listed for this toy. I found it at a very common, bullseye-covered store for less than half of this price.

If you need better instructions transforming this one, do look at video sites. Help is out there!

My husband was a huge Transformers fan as a kid and still is today. It was a challenge to transform but it's a lot of fun once you get the hang of it. Plus it looks really cool. This was the perfect Christmas gift!

I purchased this Transformer toy for my 6 year old son for Christmas. He loves it, it's the pretty much his favaorite thing he got for Christmas. Probably the only complaint I have about it is the instructions are a little difficult for him to understand (it even took me a while to figure the thing out). But other than that it's an awesome toy. I would definetly recommend this toy to anyone who's child is into Transformers as much as mine is.

My son loves playing with this toy. He enjoys it alot, he was very excited when he got it for Christmas. He could not put it down. So far the toy is durable. It is challenging to transform it from a transformer to a truck.

Challenging toy for adults and equally challenging for kids. Must be able to follow instructions at length. My grandson found it facinating and imaginative. He really seems to enjoy and by using his imagination, developes creativity so I believe it was a good investment as an educational toy as well as a fun toy.
