I have worked in a bike shop, and it took me about 40 minutes to put the bike together. I think if you were not experienced in building a bike it could take about 1.5 hours. The only problem we have had with the bike is the back braking system is noisy, but other than that, my son really likes it!

My wife and I bought this bike for my 6 year old. We bought it from ToysRUs, they put it together for us and everything was perfect. The first issue we ran into is that because of the construction of the bike, it doesn't fit onto any car bike racks that I own. I had to bungee cord it to the rack if we wanted to take it with us. The second issue we ran into was the weight of the bike. It's very heavy for our 6 year old to pedal. The last issue was something that another reviewer had mentioned, the back fender broke off within a short time of getting the bike. It could've happened with the way I strapped it to the bike rack or possibly a design flaw, I'm not totally sure. All in all, it's a good solid bike, it just wasn't a good fit for us. We bought it solely because our son liked transformers. We should've had him ride it around the store before buying it. Oh well, live and learn.

Transformer Optimus Prime 18" bike was a big hit with my grandson, it was very well constructed. Easy to assemble, very sharp design.

We purchased this bike for Christmas for our 6 year old grandson and he loves it. Couple of problems worth noting: (1) No kickstand, comes with training wheels but a six year old, or any child able to ride an 18" bike, would most likely not need training wheels, will need to purchase kickstand separately; (2) first-time he rode it the back fender fell off. Be aware that it needs a more secure attachment, easy fix, but still a problem.

My son, who is 6 and 1/2, loved this present from Santa! It is so COOL, and different from the bikes my son had seen in the stores. The 18" size is perfect for him.
