Toys : Hasbro Star Wars Transformers Darth Vader/Death Star

In association with Amazon.com

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - 14 year old reviews death star
Anyone who has successfully transformed any of the other 2 transformers planets might find this easy. Anyone else will have trouble transforming this toy the first few times. pieces can come off but will snap back in. I would not recommend this for anyone who is under 7 or gets frustrated easily. I am 14 and found this easy to transform. the only part that does not fit into the death star is the light saber of Darth Vader. The missile fires from Darth Vaders hand or from the death star. I think the toy is cleverly designed. S.T.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - The Most Tyranical Transformer
I am 6 years old, my mom is typing this and my dad is trying to turn it into the Death Star mode and he's having a very hard time doing it. It snaps off all the time, the plates won't join and Darth Vader keeps saying things, that are aggravating!!!
However, I still like this toy and want to play with it soon.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Help me Obi Wan (helpful tips to assemble death star)
Yes, this almost drove me to drink!! Getting the death star created is a royal pain. Thanks to Andrew for his helpful hints review. A few more suggestions. Mine went along pretty well until I got to the arm pieces.

*Vader's arms need to be close to his side. I put the pieces on his biceps in first. Make sure his hands are turned thumbs up and pushed down as far as possible. The other piece (the hinged piece) should fold in without much resistance. If it doesn't slide flush, look in through the top (Vader's head) and you can see if his hands are in the way.

*On the pieces above the missle launcher, there are some connectors that swivel. You don't need them, but make sure they are pointed down and out of the way.

*With the final 2 pieces, the one on the left has to go on first (if you are looking at the back of the toy (part with the battery compartment)).

Good Luck and May the Force be with you (but not too much force or it'll break apart).

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - For rocket scientists only!
It looks great coming out of the box. Darth Vader is amazing. Then you decide you want to see it as the Death Star...this is where you need more than the directions can provide. I'm thinking of hiring and architect to see if they could help us figure it out. I would not recommend it for those who aren't ummm, how should I say, extremely mechanically inclined.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - The Darth Vader robot that transforms into the Death Star!
As the third entry in Hasbro's Supreme-class "planet-formers" (previous two being Primus and Unicron), this figure can be said to be the final evolution of this concept. You can see the evolution as Primus is closer to a spherical form than Unicron and Darth even more closer (in fact, almost perfect) in form. Vader accomplishes this by being a huge shell-former (which will likely draw some disdain from certain TF purists), however the results I say are definitely worth it as both Vader and Death Star modes look fairly awesome as a result. Not only do the toy look good but it's packed with gimmicks. We have the spring loaded Super Laser, a cloth cape for Darth to wear in robot mode, and, my favorite part, the light and sound gimmicks. As with RID's Air Attack Optimus Primal, the light and sound gimmicks really raise this Darth toy to another level. A button on Darth's belt will light up his chest lights (which double as the Death Star mode's Super Laser lights) and sound out one of a set of spoken lines followed by Vader's classic breathing sound. Same is done with a button on the back of the Death Star mode with even more voice clips activated by holding down the button. A button on the right arm will activate laser blasting sound (holding it down will activate an exploding sound). Inserting the lightsaber in the right hand will activate light saber sounds and light up the saber too (push button while active for even more sounds). Although Darth is smaller than the other two planet-formers, his light and sound gimmicks makes him just as fun, if not more so, than the other two.

One bit of warning however is that Darth's transformation to Death Star can be rather difficult to some as it's one of those transformations that will either result in perfection or a mess of popping panels. However once you master transforming him, you'll find it isn't too bad and his Death Star mode is rather stable considering how difficult it was to him into that mode. Definitely not something for the Transformer newbies.
