Toys : Transformers Movie Deluxe Landmine

In association with Amazon.com

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - great looking transformer, poorly built.
I bought this one because of the original look. Alot of the new movie toys are hideous, this is one of the which caught my eye. It certainly dosen't dissapoint there, the car mode is incredibley detailed, working shocks, little american flags and number/letters painted on, pannels gallore, and a swivel rooftop machine gun make the car mode worth the price. Robot mode is almost as nice, the head is very unique and has some sort of bumper face gaurd going on. the color scheme is great, and it is very posable. However, like most in the new movie line, it has issues gallore. The head was already popped off before I even took it out of the box, and continues to pop off regularly. The car mode has bumpers on the front and back, though they add nice detail to the car mode, they come off regularly also. The transformation is fairly easy, but it seems tight in spots, and the arms need to be fought with to fit into place in car mode. Nice looking figure if you can get past the fagile build.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Looks nice in both modes
I have two requirements when purchasing a transformer; it must a) look cool in robot mode and b) look cool in its alternate mode. Landmine fits the bill nicely in both respects. In his alternate mode, the tires actually have independent spring suspension, which is cool, and if you take the time while transforming him, you can manage to get his hands to look like seats, which is nice.

In Robot mode, he's really posable, with the possible exception of his arms; they kind of bend in strange places, limiting what you can do with them to a certain degree.

My only real complaint with Landmine is his head. All the new Transformers use ball joints that pop out under stress, and for the most part this is fine. When arms pop off, you can just snap them back in, and its better than having some hinge break. But in the case of Landmine, it seems like his head comes off all the time. In the process of transforming him from one mode to the other, his head probably pops off 3 or 4 times. And if you're transforming him into his alternate mode, that means you have to partially transform him back to his robot mode to snap it back on. It might just be the one I got, and its really no trouble to just snap his head back on. All in all a worthy addition to my collection.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great, original design! (if a bit weak)
To start, the reasons I really like this guy mostly revolve around how integrated his robot parts are to the car parts, leaving really only the robot skeleton (waist, thighs, wrists, head) hidden. The cylinders in the back are the toes, the wheels fold in to help make the feet, and even the hands were once the seats of the car. It's a little finicky to transform getting the arms in and out without feeling like something going to fly off, but after a couple tries you get the hang of it.
The one other complaint I have is that a couple things fall off a little easily, even though it's just as easy to shove back on. In particular the head (which looks pretty cool by the way) popped off about 3 times before I had even transformed him once, so I just left it off until i was done. That and a bumper, but neither have really been a big problem.

Overall, I'm very happy with him... even though he's getting a bit overshadowed by Bonecrusher and Megatron at the moment. Despite having a tricky, head-popping transformation, he's a lot more interesting to look at than some of the others in the same line of new bots.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Very Original
I was needless to say surprised when I saw this guy in the store one morning. I expected this line to be out sometime later in 08. Anyway, Landmine turned out to be much better than I thought and I really had high hopes. The rear bumper has a bit of a tendancy to fall off but its not a big deal.
Landmine has no automorph but I think the fact that he has reasonably working shocks makes up for it. The transformation is pretty simple for a delux figure. Probably the most entertaining part is the fact that his feet have wheels on them, makes me think of Bonecrusher rollerblading on the highway. Alot of the transformers have had their weapons as part of thier bodies. So Landmine being able to hold his gun is yet another plus for this figure.
Did I forget to mention that this guy is super posable? There are so many ways to bend his arms and legs its just crazy. Even his hands are partially articulated. The Cluffjumper and Camshaft figures are really just repaints of Bumblebee and Swindle. Landmine however is a completely original model based off the military buggees(sp) from the movie. And yet still is his very detailed face.
Alot of time and effort went into designing this Transformer and it obviously shows. I highly recommend Landmine for anyone's collection.
