The "Calling leads up to the season finale. Terence Stamp who played General Zod in the first two Superman movies lends his voice to none other than Jor-El for this episode.

Dr. Walden who had been previously put into a coma in the caves comes out of it. Dr. Walden keeps muttering " The day is coming" ,and Lex Luthor would like to know what he's talking about.

Lex's curiousity gets the best of him ,and he has Clark's blood sample stolen from Helen's office. To make matters worse he completely denies his role in the theft. Later Dr. Walden escapes with some strange power he has acquired that comes out of his hands. Dr. Walden finally reads the wall which says the Last son will rule. He becomes completely convinced it is Clark and that he must die.

Walden attacks Clark at the farm but becomes a victim of his own new power when he causes an explosion that takes his life. Clark and Lana give each other a real big kiss. But the conclusion of the episode occurs right after Clark hears the voice of Jor-El saying ,"Kal-El it is time", and then he heads into the cellar.

What will Clark's destiny be? Will Jor-El control Clark's life from the grave?
