This episode marks the last time we see Whitney Fordman this season, probably the last time of the entire series. As the show begins Clark and Lana reflect on the fact that Whitney is still missing in action, and then the scene shifts to Indonesia where Whitney appears with the rest of his platoon running from bombing attacks. As Whitney heroically helps one of his fallen friends, a blast occurs right in front of him. We don't get to see what's happened at that point. Later in Smallville Whitney shows up at Smallville High. Lana is thrilled but Clark's not all that happy with the competition. Afterwards Whitney starts acting a little strange, even exhibiting signs of super strength. He destroys a bathroom and blames it on Clark. He tells Lana, Clark warned him to stay away from her. Of course Lana believes him.
The worst is yet to come, as Whitney murders a marine who arrives at the Fordman house to inform Whitney's mother of his status. Whitney holds his own mother hostage, but then we find out that Whitney is not Whitney. He's the shape shifting girl Tina from the episode "X-Ray" .
Tina beats up Pete at school, and knocks out Clark
and puts him in the Kent cellar with Lana's Kryptonite necklace.
Fortunately for Clark, his spaceship turns the meteor rock harmless.
Clark rushes off to save Lana who thinks he's already there, but of
course it's really Tina.

After Clark defeats Tina, at the Kent's home we found
out what happened to Whitney. The marine who Tina murdered was sent to
inform Whitney's mom that his body had been found. Whitney had died
during combat.
