For the first time Clark meets Perry White who at this time is not the chief of the Daily Planet yet. Perry is a washed up reporter thanks to his fear of the Luthors. Perry sets his reporters eye on Clark due to an accident where he sees Clark's powers in action. Unfortunately for Clark  freak solar flare activity is making his power run amuck at the same time he's dealing with Perry.

This episode features a amazing scene where Clark accidentally throws the family tractor for miles in the air where it lands right in front of guess who none other than Perry White.

Clark and Jonathan watching the tractor flying through the air. Its the spot on the left.

Perry pours out his booze after seeing a tractor fall from the sky.

Clark ends up having to save Perry at the end without powers. Thanks to Joe Neigel who sent us some photos he took while watching the Smallville crew film this scene.

Michael McKean guest stars,  you might remember him from Laverne and Shirley as Lenny, he did some voice work on a couple of Justice League episodes, and was a guest star on a few of the X-files.

 Music from Perry

"I Love This Bar" by Toby Keith - Played at the beginning of the episode where Perry's drinking.
"Blue" by LeAnn Rimes - Played during the scene with Clark and Perry in the Wild Coyote
"Walkin' In Memphis" by Lonestar - Played at the very end of the episode, when Clark says goodbye to Perry at the bus stop. What does Memphis have to do with Smallville you might ask. Well even though it wasn't mentioned on this episode but fans of the 1990's  Lois and Clark show know Perry White is a huge fan of Elvis. He would constantly spout out his trademark line "Great shades of Elvis" on the series and he often referred to the King of Rock in other ways during the series. And of course Memphis was Elvis' home town. ......Thank you thank you verrrry much!
