i read that bryan singer originally had zod in the script for superman returns and he was to be played by johnny depp ( who was also considered to play lex b4 kevin spacey finally got the part) perhaps we will see him in superman 2(4). i like johnny depp and i think he'd do a good job as zod. those crystals are still sitting on the krypton island superman threw into space in SM Returns so perhaps lex will get a hold of them and use them to restore zods powers. who would play non and ursa? would they even be in the movie? lex would use kryptonite to control them and make them do his bidding (although that probably wouldn't last too long) anyway, that's just my 2 cents worth.

I hate to burst your bubble, but that's not gonna happen. Zod, Non and Ursa were killed in Superman II. Superman zapped all three of them of their powers, making them normal. Superman threw Zod into a wall and slid to his death, Non tried to fly but fell to his death and Lois smacked Ursa and she fell to her death (this all took place at the Fortress). Any other theories?? __________________

sorry Mattro, i hate to burst your bubble but you are wrong. i've seen all the supermans numerous times so i know the scene you're talking about and, granted, they never really explained what happened but believe me, superman and lois did not kill them. superman doesn't kill. and lois certainly doesn't. besides, i wasn't talking about a rumor, bryan singer really had zod in the original script but took him out because the movie was already too long. no offense, but for you to say that superman and lois killed them is RIDICULOUS.

They didnt physically kill them, but Zod, Non and Ursa fell to their icy deaths. Superman & Lois just played a small part. Savvy?? __________________
there was a deleted scene in superman 2 where you see the cops leading the 3 villains away. however, in that same scene, superman also destroys the fortress of solitude and since it's still standing in superman returns, then we have to pretend that scene never happened. my point is, they can still be brought back.

Yes zod99 those scenes are in the Richard Donner version of S2, aswell as numerous other scenes, and I am guessing that Mattro and some of the others mightn't have seen that version. If Lex did give Zod his powers back then the first thing that Zod would do is kill Lex so if he was going to come up with some sort of protection then it would have to be a good one.

Bearing in mind you can only go off the ORIGINAL SII released by Lester it certainly would suggest that zod and co fell to an icy grave. Whilst the release of the Donner original will show diferent, members of the public would go off the original SII.
The possibility still exists, however, that the release of donners version is being put on shelves so that Zod in singers sequel could work.
To be fair though, I can't imagine how he would work them back into the story. They lost their powers and if the police took them away they have been sat as mere mortals in prison. Lex qould have to reinstate their powers and if there is such a way, then why doesn't he take the powers for himself? __________________

Yes but very interrrrrresting. It is sci-fi fantasy comic book stuff after all so anything can be written in to make Zod return.
Who knows here's a weird thought what if Doomsday comes on the scene and the only way Superman can beat him is with the help of the evil Zod. After they defeat Doomsday Supes would have to fight Zod again. __________________

i think johnny depp would make a good zod. he's a great actor.
I like Johnny Depp, but I think he can play a bad guy good, but I just don't think it would be as entertaining to have him play a murderer like Zod. People want to see Depp as a somewhat likeable guy like on the Pirates movies. __________________

Well what about Dean Cain as Zod just to really throw a spanner in the works of the "superman curse". The new big screen superman versus the 90's small screen superman, any takers? What if at the end of the next one superman traps Zod on the new Krypton and then Zod uses the crystals to bring Doomsdays to life so he can destroy the son of Jor-el once and for all. If they did that then they could have Doomsday kill Zod and get rid of him for good. There is your next 2 villians. No dailyplanet Johnny Depp isn't British he is American but he does do a good impression of Keith Richards in the Pirates movies.
