A better question would be can the rest of the world get the same disc so all of us can have a look. It would probably depend on whether the disc is numbered specifically for the UK/European market, Tim, but if you have a cheap DVD player then you will find it will play any disc from anywhere inthe world. I think they are generically chipped and programmed not country specific programmed like the expensive ones are.

I think I'm going to research this on ebay and elsewhere. If you read this slayeruk, how much are you wanting for it? I assume your thinking of selling it. I'm curious.
All my stuff is cheap superjon so my dvd player probably would work with it. __________________

Tim, I am curious as to which version of superman 2 was originally released in the U S twenty odd years ago because by what I am reading on the supermanhomepage you, as in the U S, got what has become known to the world as superman 2. I mean that the U S got basically the Lester version whereas the rest of the world got the Donner version. I have a good memory for detail when it comes to things I like which most definetly means superman movies and the movie I saw on the big screen back in early 80's is not the one I have on VHS in my bedroom(the dvd player is in the loungeroom). So tell me if you can what of the differences decribed on the other site do you recall from back then and what do you have at home now?

Here's what I remember, here in the US I saw on TV an extended version of Superman 2. It was extended apparently to make more commercial money. The version that is on video is the original theatrical version I believe. It's a little shorter.
I do believe a special edition of Superman 2 is on it's way to DVD. __________________

Thanks Tim, so when did you see the extended version on TV? Also I guessed correctly with the fact that way back in the 80's you saw the Lester version then and not the Donner version . The version about to be released as the restored international cut is the one I saw which I am guessing WB put into its vault somewhere with the instructions of "never to be released" and is, now, trying to cash in on the upcoming new movie. Funny how a new movie about superman can cause a rethink on that idea, huh?

yep, money talks.
The extended version I saw was the very first airing of Superman 2 on television which was the first time I ever got to see it. My parents, especially my dad, weren't too keen on going to the movies.
It was a long wait for a little kid I'm telling you, to have to wait for it to hit television. __________________

Not quite as I remember it Kal Reeves, as far as I can remember Zod, Ursa, Non and Lex were all taken away by the police. Then superman flies a short distance from the fortress to make sure that Lois is not harmed and then it blows up. That is why I found s4 a little bit confusing because Clark uses the green crystal and the powers of the fortress to heal himself before he goes after nuclear-man. I sat there watching it and thought where did the crystal and new fortress come from.

I just purchased the Superman extended and the Superman II extended fims on DVD at a convention. Awesome! I remember some of the deleted scenes from way back when like the 3 villians being taken away by the police and the fortress of solitude exploding. These DVDs are awesome historical documents of great films with all of their exsisting content put back where it belongs. If anybody needs copies email me at macgille@aol.com Take care.

The Fortress blows up?! NO way! Until I read this forum, I had absolutely no idea that that existed as part of the original Superman II! I wonder if that'll be re-inserted in the 14 disc special edition Superman collection that's coming out later this year? Can anyone who's seen it say what other additional bits there are, and how does it actually end?

I remember that version of superman II but i haven't seen it in years. I posted this question in another section but it seems I may have more luck in this section. Does anyone remember a scene in Superman I where lex had a creature or animal in a dungeon and at the end he lowers Miss Tessmacher into it for helping superman but then, after being lowered in and disappearing from sight, superman flies up with her in his arms?? Also... what happened to Miss Tessmacher? In Superman II, she helps lex escape and goes to the fortress of solitude in the baloon with him and then we never see her again. Anyone have any info that I'm not aware of?? Also, I know I spelt Miss Tessmacher wrong so don't bother pointing it out. Thanx
