Ok, this is bizzare this movie sucked. It SUCKED.
But not for any of the reasons listed above.
The actors were good, even Lois wasn't portrayed that badly.
The cinematography was excellent.
The action was good too.
But no person who actually like Superman, knows anything about Superman, or has ever even HEARD of Superman knows that Superman can not use his "Super" powers when in the presence or under the effects of Kryptonite.
In this movie Superman is shown flying, using his "lazer" eyes, even lifting a huge chunk of the earths crust into orbit, all while having a piece of Kryptonite inside him.
Worse, in the scenes with him raising the giant chunk of ocean floor/sub continent into outer space it shows him within inches of Giant pieces of Kryptonite.
What should have happened goes in this order:
1) When he jumped out of the small plane with a piece of Kryptonite still in him he should have fallen like a rock and died from impact on the oceans surface like a melon dropped from a fifty story building....
...Assuming that didn't happen, by some plot twist not revealed in the movie...
2) When he ripped the chunk of ocean floor up he should have released a gigantic plume of lava that would have made all the volcanoes in the world look like firecrackers, destroying life as we know it on earth.
...Assuming that didn't happen, by some plot twist not revealed in the movie...
3) While he was lifting this giant sub continent/chunk of ocean floor and came in contact with the massive amount of kryptonite in said sub continent/chunk he should have fallen back to earth accompanied by said continent/chunk and been squashed into ityy bitty teeny weeny indescribably small pieces.
...Assuming that didn't happen, by some plot twist not revealed in the movie...
4) While falling back to earth totally depleated of powers from contact with the Kryptonite he should have burned up on re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere.
...Assuming that didn't happen, by some plot twist not revealed in the movie...
5) When he hit the earth he should not have caused an impact crater the size of a small sports stadium.
...Assuming that did happen, by some plot twist not revealed in the movie...
6) He should not have awoken from his coma as there was no reasonable or even unreasonable reason given for him to wake up from it.
All in all the movie sucked because they decided to make a movie that had very little to do with the nuts and bolts of Superman and alot to do with making money.
This really upsets me as I am a fan of Superman and the Original Superman movies and the Original black and white TV show.

I can't argue with the points. The Kryptonite thing should have made Superman too weak to lift the island, but I think they did address that issue by having Superman first fly up into the sky to soak up as much yellow sun rays as possible.
Of course by all previous stories I don't think that would have helped.
I don't think it ruined the movie by any means. It just didn't add anything to the movie in my opinion. __________________

I don't think it ruined the movie but it did make me wonder a bit. However giving the idea that superman went back to his home galaxy I think that had some effect on his resistance to the kryptonite or maybe that was Singers reasoning or thinking behind all that part of the movie. Anyhow I will bet money that they explain why he was less vulnerable to the kryptonite in the next movie. Think about it like this people would the fragmented pieces of Krypton be radiating differently in a solar system having residual effects of a red sun than the way those fragments, known as kryptonite here, would radiate the specific level and type of radiation in this solar system with the yellow sun. I think it would anyhow but maybe that is just my small understanding of chemistry, physics, geology and biology coming into play here because different animals or plants re-act differently to different types and dosages of chemicals and/or radiations, don't they?

Hi guys, like all of u im a huge Superman fan, i thought the movie was OK, but here r the things that i hated. I HATED the suit,i understand that Brian wanted a "timeless" look 2 the film, but sucking the colour outta the superman suit is a no no, the bright red is apart of the character. As far as Brandaon is concerned in his dipiction of Kal-el, it was kinda disapointing, he was waaaaaaaaaaay 2 soft spoken, Superman is strong spoken, confident, almost regal in his ways, His Clark was ok, he wasnt nerdy enough tho. But i guess thats things that might come through better in the next films. I thing Brian wanted 2 find someone that looks like Chris, i thought just using the original score was enough.
Now on2 Lois Lane, please Brian FIRE Kate Bosworth, that was the LAMEST depiction of lois lane EVER. Lets do the list, Lois is strong, confident, hot/sexy, independent, kick ass, sarcastic, and smart, Kate showed NONE of the traits.
Now, Brian Singer, whats with the Kid? They never had a baby, and it was a little arogant of u 2 do that, sure its a first but it sux.
That said i did like the action scenes, and how his powers where explained.
But i think because we have grown up with Chris Reeve, and now we have the AWSOME smallville series, we just have seen Better Supermans, better Lois Lanes.
Its just my opinion guys, but lets face it, the movie coulda been alot worse.

His son being in it is just one of the many reasons it sucks so bad. 70 years worth of history without a brat and they go and make a film that copies donners movie and adds a brat for no reason. If that wasnt enough they make the worlds greatest hero into a stalker and gullible fool after all if Krypton didnt explode, the what the hell is Kryptonite? All fans should wake up and realise singer is the wrong guy for the job.
Kevin Spacey as Lex Luther was terrible, no substitute for Gene Hackman.
True, Superman mythology was used throughout the movie I must agree.
Supermans costume was not like the original, it was too dark & there was no yellow S on the cape.

I thought the new Superman costume was awesome. I loved Chris Reeves costume but let's be honest, now that I'm older I have to say that it looks about what you might rent at a costume shop today, although at the time I'm sure it was a one and only. But I still think it works. The yellow S on the cape was cut out because it was a pain in the ass for the FX guys to show when he was flying. Bryan Singer said, in an interview I saw, that he decided not to have it because the special effects guys said, as I mentioned, that it was a pain to do during the flying scenes. I'm fine with that. The new costume is the best Superman outfit I've seen yet.
