SupermanTV.net Forum / Superman / Super Fans / Nicolas Cage names son Kal-El

I kid you not Nicolas Cage who was almost Superman in the scrapped Tim Burton Superman project named his new born Kal-El. Now what do you think of that?

compare Cage to Routh

If cage wore a toupee for his receding hair line he might have not been such a bad choice for Superman. You have to wonder how that would have turned out.

Yeah well Tim if you have a good look at Nic with that much hair I think he actually looks like Sylvester Stallone. I think we all need to give Brandon a chance in the role before we condemn him in the role. I also put a similar topic title on another part of the forum.

To be honest with you guys i guess routh kinda looks like reeves. But i reall dont see what they did different with the costume. Can you guys tell me.

What do you mean? Are you asking what the difference between Routh's costume and Reeve's?

Routh's is darker and his shorts look way to skimpy for one.

one of the key differences that not enough people realize is the fact that superman never had a belt like that.  it was always just a yellow band, no symbol or belt buckle thingy, which i think is just a marketing decision to start selling superman belt buckles

and isnt it odd that "el" is the last name of the kryptonian family of superman (well more like a knights surname) and yet it appears in the first name of cage's newborn?  but then it does makes sense to include it if you consider that kryptonians always use the full name to refer to some one instead of just the first name.  kinda like "Jesus of Nazareth", or "Aragorn son of Arathorne", where "Jor-el" technically means "Jor" from the house of "el", one of those things.  what do you think?

I think it is pretty awesome

Considering that most celebrities pick odd names for their kids, just par for the course. My fave would have to be Kevin Smith's daughter: Harley Quinn.

No way he named his kid, Harley Quinn?! That's a little obsessive. Now his kids going to turn out to be crook or something.

I think I'd go with Luke or Han though, you know since Anakin doesn't turn out so good.
