I read this article that stated that the Superman Returns budget was now at 300 million dollars. The article called the movie one of the highest budgeted movies of all time. I wonder if that counts all the money they spent on the false starts. I heard the last Fast and Furious used a bunch of cars that was supposed to have been used for Superman.
Well, I guess they're pretty confident of it's success in bringing people in. That plus all of the merchandise sold and advertising spots I'm sure we'll all see in the movie. So what do you think? Does Supes drink Pepsi or Coke?

If it is that big of a budget then I am guessing, Tim, that if the movie doesn't fly (pardon the pun) then the makers are banking on getting their money back on the merchandising. Also kazaadude if you remember in S2 there was a huge coke sign that was destroyed when Superman threw General Zod into it and I don't think coke will give up that kind of advertising in a hurry.

Hehe, I didn't even remember that. I think the one that has the most ads are James Bond movies. But, yeah, maybe they already broke even through ads alone.

Don't forget the cheerios. I haven't been certain if they added that scene back in just for the dvd, but have you seen the scene where the box of cereal is on the table on the Kent farm in Superman the Movie?
You know I think correct product placement makes a movie more realistic. I mean in the real world people use these products not fake Hollywood stand in products. I wish the advertising would go more that way on TV and save some commercial time for more of the actual show.
I love the Zod fight scene when his heat vision bounces back from the truck mirror and burns the sign behind him revealing the words," Cool it". I still remember watching it for the first time on TV years ago. It made my dad laugh at loud. __________________
Yes Tim I remember that ad with cheerios in Superman 1. I also liked the subtle bits of advertising like in Superman 2 when the kid fell into Niagra Falls and they got a good shot of the boat with it's name "Maid of the Mist iv" if I remember correctly. I mean the big companies buy their advertising in movies like this but I am guessing the movie makers asked them if they could use their boat to help with the believability of them being in Niagra Falls because I will bet the boat owner wouldn't make enough money to pay for that kind of advertising, even for that day in age.
