Here's somethings.
Helen Slater as Lara?
POSTED 8-1-07
A new interview on the Newsday website contains some very interesting tidbits and comments from Helen Slater, the actress who played Supergirl in the 1984 movie of the same year.
Most notable in this article was this: "Smallville's producers are looking to bring me back, as Supergirl's aunt," Slater says. Now... either Clark Kent has an Earth-bound aunt that we don't know about, or we may be seeing Lara, Clark's mother from the planet Krypton.
As usual, no announcements have been made from The Powers That Be, so this one's sticking at Rumorville for now.
Also in the Newsday article, Ms. Slater talks about her movie, and how she hopes Smallville does a better job with Kara Zor-El. "The character was just a female replica of Superman, so [it] never made a viable story," Slater says. "It didn't really tap into what Supergirl was experiencing. Hopefully Smallville gets it right."

Smallville at Comic-Con: Interview With Laura Vandervoort!
By Craig Byrne
Before Smallville's panel at the Comic-Con International in San Diego, some of the attending cast and crew members participated in a brief press junket.
KryptonSite's Craig Byrne was one of the people able to speak with creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, Laura Vandervoort (Kara/Supergirl), and Erica Durance (Lois). Yesterday, we posted the interview withSmallville's creators, Gough & Millar, plus actress Erica Durance... today, we talk to Laura Vandervoort, now also known as Kara Zor-El... Supergirl.
[Be warned, spoilers may follow.]
Joining the cast of Smallville has been a big deal for Laura. "It's been incredible, that's for sure," she said. "It's been a whirlwind, but a wonderful whirlwind. I've been learning to fly, and she's a strong, independent woman. So it's great to play."
"My first day at work, I was nervous. But the cast has been great. They've been together for six years, so everyone's been really comforting," she shared.
On the subject of comfort, Laura reveals that she has already gone to a harness for some scenes in which her character will fly. This is a different harness than the one Tom Welling has used. "Actually, we've developed a harness for myself because of the outfit being a little more revealing," she says. "So they developed a smaller harness."
Laura revealed that she has not seen, nor does she plan to see, the 1984 Supergirl movie featuring Helen Slater. "I think the first Supergirl movie was made in 1984, and that's the year I was born," Vandervoort said, making everyone else in the room feel old.
"I don't want to see it, because I want to play her my own way," she continued, echoing Tom Welling's feeling on seeing films with the adult Superman. Vandervoort shares that Smallville is looking to the current comics for inspiration. "We're going with the current DC Comics mythology, which is that she's Clark's cousin Kara," she says. [At this time she also reveals that her human alter ego will be "Kara Kent."]
Earth will take some getting used to for Kara, but fortunately, she's got a Super cousin looking over her. "He's telling me all of the mistakes that he's made, and I'm learning from him," Laura says.
Clark's alter ego of Tom Welling has had some words of wisdom for his new co-star, words that he also shared with Erica Durance upon her Smallville arrival: "Tom's been telling me, to take a nap whenever you can," Vandervoort shared. Any moment that you have a free chance, take a nap. That's been his important advice."
Look for Season 7 to premiere on The CW September 27.
