From http://movieblog.ugo.com/index.php/movieblog/more/bryan_singer_he ...

The widow and daughter of Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel are suing Warner Bros. for 50% of the rights for both Superboy and Superman. The Siegels are basing their claims on the definition of copyright claims as they were defined when Siegel and Jerome Shuster sold their interest in Superman to DC Comics back in 1938, revised in later years, and specificed by the American government as to how copyright could be reclaimed by the creators.

It goes on to say this could effect Superman TV shows like Smallville as well as a sequel to Superman Returns or the JLA movie. Now wouldn't it suck to not have Superman in JLA movie.

Still more details on the case. http://www.newsarama.com/DC/Superman/Intro.htm

Just a  bizarro thing here.Did you know  If you found an old book and the story was good, and it was c. before 1930 (I think now) you could use  it  to write a plot for an Episode of Smallville or???.  Interesting isn't it?  You'd have to check the Library Of Congress to be sure someone didn't renew it.You were talking about taking back a copyright once expired AND  IF was renewed by another ?? (THAT can't be done to my knowledge )  It is an interesting subject.
Hey!Check your basment or attic, a script or scene you  re-write  you  could submit  Who knows, $$$$$$$  It seems underhanded, but it is legal to do it,  Not plagerism when a book is o.o.c. and never renewed.  -- start looking for old -adventure stories B4 1930. God!  Tons of people have gone that route.
I was reminded by the conversation above about trying to Take Back the copyright .  Heard a bell.

Certain characters are public domain.

I've used a few in my Time-Rider series like Hyde, Robin Hood, Davey Crockett (historical figure) etc. I plan on using more later.

I sure didn't know about that.(Public domain characters--somehow I thought they all might be off-limits and never had a reason to check.)  I am going over to look-see what you have done, but I have to drive over to Reno for a few hours work related..  That is real exciting about what you have accomplished.  Imprssive Tim!!!
A certifed nut case lived next to me (British fellow never threw anything away) he had collected tons of old paperbacks/pulps none in great shape.(Tears and DUST, plus he smoked so they REEK) and when the house was cleaned out  after he died-- all that was thrown away to the dumpster.  I figured the books were probably items of value to someone (big maybe here) and took them.  Some of the stories are pretty good.  I have enough reading till I am 80.Cough,cough.I may die of nicotine poison first.

Just joshing Mr D-- I was talking to Tim about his character Davey Crockett and thought of your area. Wish I was farming the country you are. Have you got a bear? We have them in our parking lot sometimes and recent.Come down hungry.  They tranqlize them and take them back to visit yet another day.But shooting one is not my thing ESPECIALLY in the parking lot.
I will get back to topic.

Version as produced for Walt Disney Records
Lyrics by Tom Blackburn
Music by George Bruns

Born on a mountain top in Tennessee
The greenest state in the land of the free
Raised in the woods so's he knew ev'ry tree
Kilt him a b'ar when he was only three
Davy, Davy Crockett, king of the wild frontier

Fought single-handed through many a war
Till the enemy was whipped and peace was in store
And while he was handlin' this risky chore
He made himself a legend forever more
Davy, Davy Crockett, the man who knew no fear

He went off to Congress and served a spell
Fixin' up the Government and the laws as well
Took over Washington, so I heard tell
And he patched up the crack in the Liberty Bell
Davy, Davy Crockett, seeing his duty clear

When he came home his politic'ing was done
And the western march had just begun
So he packed his gear and his trusty gun
And lit out a-grinnin' to follow the sun
Davy, Davy Crockett, leading the pioneer

PAK!  I do appreciate your getting that for me.  I have been running the uncompleted 1st verse in my head today, with some frustration. What a dumb thing to do, but you know how things run around  up there sometimes when yu're bored? Thanks .

What are doing about your "7" character. are you going to go on with that one,Tim?
Very interesting concept. Were you a pro artist?  Are you still active if "yes"?
Sorry, if I am asking what everybody else knows. I was just wondering.
Posted:  01 Oct 2007 17:25
No I'm not a pro artist, I have to use adobe and poser software, and put all together and hope for the best.

I'm doing a lot of thinking on the 7 character, and I'm getting ready to do another story Time-Rider story and introduce the character. So far I'm working on the first panel for like a week. Real slow going. I'm pretty busy with regular webmaster duties lately. Probably be hard to have as much time till after Christmas, but I'll work on it every chance I get.

So it is a hobby more.  But I know you have GOT to be having fun. Christmas is really busy for me too.  A lot of people do go to Reno and surrounding area to gamble, -- so our casinos are hoppin' and packed.  Stressful, but that is the way it has always been.
I will keep a watch to see WHAT you are going to do with "7".  This morning I was thinking about the evil revenge movie that starred Pitt about a maniac dealing his own sick justice .  Did you see that mess? I hated it.  Anyway, you may think a bit about that, and maybe add another skill and call hin "8"!!!
Posted:  01 Oct 2007 17:44
Oh, right I saw that movie Seven. That was like the 7 deadly sins, of course I'm thinking of the fact 7 is like the number of Grace. It represents good while you know numbers with 3 sixes are really bad of course.

Pitt makes some interesting movies, but I usually don't watch them more than once though. They are usually pretty intense.

Numbers with 3---6's.
Did you know 666 was the "location=address"  of the ruler who put Jesus to death?  They say now that that is discovered it is the  original reason for the connotation of evil with the number? I overflow with trivia All those books I got from the dude who collected so many, now mine.  As far as religion tho, you sure have the edge.
Off to the Dr for me now, yet another cortisone shot to my ruptured dics.

LOL!  I just go  in if somebody screws something up  and I got to "fix" things for an hour here and there.By Nov.1 , I'll be back to my old self and strength for another 5 yars I hope.  Till I lift up a ton and twist way around with it.. Gotta learn, gotta learn

One of those character's from up there looked or looks like Voldermort from Harry Potter the 1st picture the one on the right...I don't know maybe it's my lack of sleep the past few days.
Posted:  02 Oct 2007 03:35
I never saw any Harry Potter movie. I couldn't get up any enthusiasm for them.  So I can't add on to your comment about a character looking like one here.  I think they are all "done doing" Potters--The guy has gotten too old to do more.  Think he is growing a beard and going to college.  I don't think they can spring another, different Potter on the kids.
I can't think of any other phenomenon like Harry Potter, 'cept our good old Smallville Clark!
I just re-read this, it's official- I need a couple cups of coffee right now.
