The rescuing plane scene in Superman Returns was very impressive and it represented an achievement in special effects. I am still very impress of how credible was when Superman cought the nose of the plane and tried to prevent the plane from being destroyed by absorbing the vibrations created by the impact of the catch itself. The vibrations were spread along the plane from the nose to the tail astonishigly credible and created a feeling of fear as feel. The plane looked like it was in real jeopardy and altough the speed of the plane was very intense as it approached the baseball field, the catch performed by Superman was credible. The production managed to visually present the incredible strengh of Superman as he adjusted his powers to match the size, weigth, and velocity of the airplane. I believe the scene is unique and the scene itself was Oscar worthy. I do not think Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man Chest deserved the 2007 Special Effects Award. Those effects are simply drawings and pictures of people in ugly and ridiculous costumes that did not match the quality of the effects in the first part (Pirates of the Caribbean:Curse of the Black Pearl). Also, all flying scenes performed by Brandon Routh as Superman were very impressive and very colorful, better than in a comic book. ![]() ![]() __________________ SKY CAPTAIN ![]() |
