when clark used his super speed a coupla episodes back to go to the store and get lana some syrup, he did so in a couple of seconds. now, for him to zoom to the store and get to the proper shelf in the store where the syrup is and then zoom back, it MIGHT take him only a few seconds but unless he stole the syrup, which we know clark would never do, then it would take him a few minutes to go through the cash stand. even if the store is empty, he'd have to slow down and wait for the cashier to punch it up, take clarks money, exchange words, etc. etc. etc. you see where i'm going with this? so, any answers as to HOW he could do this?

Maybe he snuck a ten spot in the cash register knowing the goods only cost 8 or 9 dollars. Thus actually giving a dollar or so tip! EH!

I'd say that was a good guess.

Years ago that might have worked, but I bet these days it would cause havoc at the end of the day when they count up their money. Of course to the manager on duty it would look like there was too much money which is always better than not enough. Probably wouldn't look that good for the cashier though.

Everytime we've seen Clark have to superspeed somewhere (again this is going from past events) and back with something, when they do have a cut showing the store where Clark was, we see the proper amount for whatever has been bought left on the counter where the cashier is to be.  I see no reason to believe that Clark would not have done the same the other day with the syrup.

I definitely don't think Clark would steal. Jonathan Kent would turn over in his grave if he did. Now if I could just work on my running speed maybe I could avoid standing in line and just dump off my money like that. I hate waiting in line you know.

It's called saving screen time.

Followers of the Superman mythos know the he would never steal so the writers took out the few minutes to check out the bottle for 1, effect, and 2 more screen time for other things more important to the episode.  These occurence are common throughout TV shows.

I'm thinking the same thing: he quickly left money at the checkout stand.

But it's good someone thinks of these things.
