So it's amazing for me now that the Canadian Dollar is worth 7 cents more than the American Dollar. I'm looking at buying a bobcat in Seattle. The prices in the States are still a lot cheaper than up here in Canada but now that I get an addition seven percent savings on the exchange rate it basically pays for duty and taxes, plus buying in Washington State and being a B.C. resident I don't have to pay state sales tax. It use to be horrible buying stuff in the U.S. even about three years ago. The dollar was about 60 cents to the American Dollar and it wasn't worth buying anything in the States. In fact in 2000 I bought a brand new F 150 4x4 fully loaded. I had to sign paper promising that I wouldn't re sell the truck in the U.S. as people use to buy brand new vehicles up here drive them down south and re sell them making up to 10,000 a vehicle with the Exchange rate. Now people are driving down to the U.S. to buy their cars and trucks.

Anyways I'll have to wait and see if I get this machine or not. I'm excited. Anyone want to go for Coffee in Seattle? HAHAHA!!!!

I never could understand exactly what makes a dollar more valuable in one country vs another.

American economics is almost as complicated as women.

True story.

Hmm....I thought it was simple, supply vs. demand.  Then you find where they intersect to find the equilibrium.  Econ 101, I really enjoyed economics classes in college.

O.O

Supply and demand is easy, but that's like 2 weeks worth of material of my senior year.

I know in the U.S. right now there is a housing market crash well kinda. Also the debt is going out of control. Here last month the Canadian Government came out with a mini budgett it was pretty amazing. Huge tax cuts and a huge 22 billion dollar surplus. Remember there is only 33 million people in Canada. The biggest crunch that we are having is low unemployment so the Government is allowing business up here to hire Mexican Workers. I talked to a guy up here today who was working in a Mexican food take out place. He was so happy to be working up here legally.

Here on the West Coast Growth is out of control. Even in a smaller city like Victoria I've never seen so much development. Last time I went to Vancouver we counted over 50 cranes building highrises! I think one of the biggest benifits that Canada has is resourses. Alberta, Calgary and Edmonton is the Second largest oil exporter to the U.S. Then the Trade that Canada is doing with the Europeon Union and China is crazy too. When you cross any of the main bridges crossing the Fraser River in Vancouver you can see hundreds of Container ships going in and out all day most of which come from Japan and China.

Anyways I one my auction! hehehee!!!! YIPEEE!!!!

Here's a photo of my Bobcat I bought! I got it for $8,100 U.S.  which is about 7,600 Canadian! I also found out because of free trade and because this was made in the U.S. I don't have to pay Duty on it either. Just Canadian Taxes on the exchage difference which is 6 percent Federal Tax and 7 percent Provincial Tax. Just to give you an idea of the deal I got this same machine used up here is around 14,000 dollars Canadian! Gotta love the higher dollar EH!

It also depends where in the U.S. you're talking about. Phoenix Arz. is the fastest growing City in North America where L.A. is seeing housing prices and construction starts down. Maybe rebuilding after the fires will help the California Economy a bit.

As for the Bobcat I'm really excited. It's a smaller one it's only four feet wide. But it can still lift a thousand pounds. If it snows up here this year it will be great for clearing sidewalks, especially for condo and apartments downtown which I have contracts for. So Snow will be good for me this year. It hardly ever snows here, how sad is that, being in Canada!

Yup, first thing that comes to mind when you think of Canada is snow, right (well okay, maybe hockey would be first, eh?)

And a Beaver, a Maple leaf, a Curling Rock, A hockey stick, a Jug of Maple syrup, and a Beer. It's all you need in your suit case to be a Real Canadian. Oh and a Loonie in your pocket!

This is a Loonie and a Twoonie if you're not familiar with the lingo!

The Dollar has a loon on it thus it's dubbed the Loonie.

The Two dollar coin came later thus it's dubbed the Twoonie...some call it Toonie! I'm not sure what the official spelling is!  On Google it comes up as Toonie! hahaha!  Now they're talking of a five dollar coin to replace the five dollar bill. I guess it saves a lot of money as the coins last much longer than paper.
