From Here to Eternity is one of the more popular movies that George Reeves appeared in. Rumor has been going around for years that his role was cut short because people in test audiences were yelling out there's Superman, but this has been denied by the movie makers.
I finally saw From Here to Eternity for the first time ever on Turner Movie Channel, and I was surprised to see that George Reeves appeared more than the couple of minutes we always see on Reeves documentaries. It's only for a few seconds here and there, but he shows up quite a lot here and there and poof he's gone again. It really does appear from watching the movie that he was meant to have a larger role. In fact it looks like he may only be appearing in scenes where it was just too much trouble to cut him out of.
Talk about an all star cast. This movie had the biggest names in show business like Ernest Borgnine (McHale's Navy), Frank Sinatra, Burt Lancaster, and Donna Reed
