I've got another evening to finish this one, windows, back walls, roof, doors, etc. But I'm pretty happy with it so far.

I don't know where to post these So I'll just through them in here as I feel energetic and excited about my latest creation!!! hahahahaah

What!  No parks and trees, or do they come when you are all done. Theatre and Mc Donalds  gotta be there at least for Americans It does look like fun, and you must have a huge work area.  Did you ever dream you are in that city?It is  a passion I can tell, so you probably do.Are you dreaming you are running around in there.  Ahhh, I see the beginnings of a movie plot!
Is this a project with an end in sight or might you run out of room and have to get a bigger place.  I think you said it will go to a mall and there will run a train thru.  That is GREAT!!! I'd love to see that, believe me.  I love trains and just bought two videos,(parts 2 and 3, 1 was missing) Toy Trains and Christmas.Bill Kern's terrific " Dept 56 Villages" (I am sure you know what I am talking about) and old Lionel trains dashing thru.  I adore the videos.  Charms my soul. It is a village of old fashioned houses and everything snow covered, trees, parks. AND I fell in love with that Christmas movie "Snow Globe" I think was the name, so it looks like a train running thru that place from the movie.  Maybe New England is the place for me!!

That's so cool you are into trains!!!

I actually have a dept 56 building. It's the dept 56 flat iron building. It's going to go beside this one. Here's a photo of it.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/55063726@N00/2145341423/

Anyways as far as the train layout will go, it will be in my house, but there is no use in putting it together until I get all my structures built and have everything ready to assemble. There will be multiple trains in the layout. One will be a bullet train though the city, others will be a box car train, and a train delivering steel ore etc to my industrial area. I've got some amazing cranes, boats, freighter, as I've got some pretty cool industrial buildings, like blast furnaces, cook ovens, machine shops etc. I will have a cool port too. There will be parks, streets, people, parking garages, etc...

I've downloaded some photos of the net to help with ideas. I kinda liked this guys port set up, though mine will be a bit more detailed...
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2376/2151697050_e81665ef7d.jpg?v=0

I also liked this guys city too, you can see how he has a bullet train running through his city.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2128/2151677676_c89f8a73b6_o.jpg

he's also got some really good ground level detail too which I really like,
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2275/2151677618_f5c51a25d8.jpg?v=0

This guy's city layout is way more Japanese style, as I'm building a typical North American style city. But there are still some cool ideas to grasp from his work.

As for the Mc Donald's thing, I agree I've got a Denny's and a 7/11 store. I'm trying to find a good Mc D's still!!! Even if I don't find one, I'll still make one in the bottom of one of my buildings, like you see how they have some inside buildings downtown. I figure I'll start building the actual layout in a year maybe. I still have a lot of work to do assembling and detailing buildings.

I still think it's cool you like trains. Not many people do. I've always liked them as a little kid!

Talking about Trains, Christmas, and movies did you ever see that Tom Hanks animated movie Polar Express? That's got the whole Christmas Train thing going on too!!!

YOU BET!  I bought the DVD, and I saw it again around Christmas.  My BEST memory was the train trip I took up in  thru the Mingus Mts. (I believe) and the so called "vortex" (metaphysical) .  I went on the train different person than came off.  I swear.  Something happened up there. (To me) It was liberating and mind altering, so there is something to it.I'd like to go again but I think that train is not happening anymore. I will drive up there sometime and find the place the vortex exists and maybe just sit down and stay there all by myself! LOL.
HEY!!!! That display is just perfect!  Bravo.Where we differ is I like the quaint charm of no sky-scrapers or modern buildings, I love old fashioned small towns.  Turn of century 1990-1940 but not later.  Even before--They have a Chas. Dickens set up too, to run the trains thru, and it is on my tapes.  The videos are from 1999.  God!  They are just where I'd love to be.  Sweet and peaceful. Maybe like heaven!(Not yet please!!  LOL!)
Posted:  10 Jan 2008 00:19
I meant to say I like the look of tiny towns in the 1900-1940 era.
Posted:  10 Jan 2008 01:27
I agree with you on the older architecture, though I do love modern skyscrapers and buildings.

Mind you nothing compares to the late 1800's to 1940's. I love huge Cathedrals, and the old architecture of the day. I'll have to post some cool photos of Victoria's old town for you. That's the one really nice thing about Victoria it has a huge old town, which has been saved from new development. I love the architecture of the old Buildings here in Vic. Also Victoria is the oldest City in Western Canada and has the oldest china town in Canada and one of the oldest China towns in N.A.

Anyways here's a photo of some of my older style buildings, as I'm going to create an old town in my city. Kinda like Victoria, or Montreal where Old Towns have been saved.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2113/2181827302_1ae5699ed7.jpg?v=0

I hand paint all these, in the one building you can see I've put mannequins in the window, though I have put up store signs yet. That's detail that I'll do towards the end as signs get knocked off so easily.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2079/2181041241_bf0528b56e.jpg?v=0

you can see I've got lots of buildings made hey. The lower shelf has more 60's style buildings on it.

This is a hobby I do in the winter in a few weeks I'll probably put most of it away again for a good part of the year. Who knows, maybe I'll do the odd one every now and then.

I believe a hobby (more an occupation for you!) can keep you happy.  God!  All the energy you have put in.  It is amazing and mind-boggling! You'll need to charge money to come into where you live!  Sort of a diorama of the mid 19th C. or earlier--They charged to see things like this.  There you go, no more job for you.  Open your doors and charge for a "tour".
God himself would be impressed with those churches.  I could get lost in them.  It all is just so pleasing to view.  You are a real artist. I say Scaper--do you EVER get an urge to go into the cities??  I feel like going in.  I am so totally strange.  I know.  I don't care.
Posted:  10 Jan 2008 02:46
I think it's funny. I think it's funny how different people think. It would be cool if the city was built and you were shrunk and had to run around your town. Sounds like a crazy dream hey! One thing I will do is put a video cam on the front of the trains so you'll actually get a human eye view of traveling the train through the city!

Anyways being strange is good in some ways. Who wants to be normal or like just everyone else!

Thanks again for the compliment. It does take some artistic skill. Kinda like my landscaping I guess. I use to paint oil paintings and do sketches. My mom always gets upset with me that I don't do more. Once in a while I sketch my mom a landscape, then she cries and gets really sentimental. I know she appreciates it which is nice!!!

Yes, I agree you are an artist, true.
Vid cam on the train -- Very cool!  Great idea.
      Maybe you could sell those?

You know that old guy that lives up on the top of that high hill with a cane and a long beard. People travel days uphill just to gain wisdom and knowledge from him? ???

Well that's David, he's the All wise guy on here! The one and only D.Harvey!!!

Shadow...
I'm not into selling my stuff so much, I like to give of my time as gifts. Such as when I sketch or paint something for a friend. Landscaping is different as it's my business. Plus one can only do so much hey!

All I know is I'm so looking forward to Film School it's going to be such a fun change of pace and scenery for me. So So So So nice it's going to be!!!! I can't wait, but till then work work work hard and save some money!

Thanks again for your kind words and thoughts. Your a nice girl!

Hey I'm interested to know what you meant by that Vortex? I was a little confused on that. If you don't mind explaining more.

Hey Tim can we just get a regular smiley on here too? I miss having one.

Whoa, you weren't kidding Bob!!  Thanks for the lengthy reply!!  Good stuff bro!!    Thanks for humoring me while I continue on my Allison rant.    You know, I never did once even have a thought to call her "Chloe".  I guess that's because the character Chloe you see, and the person Allison - are two very different people.  Whoops, there I go again, going on and on about her!!    I know, I know - Shut Up David (a.k.a. Harv, D.Man, David Michael Harvey, "hey you", and "dummy" )

I've not seen anything except what has been mentioned here about the Late Night talk shows coming back on, United Artists possibly reaching an agreement, and the Golden Globes being cancelled.

I am not saying VORTEX in the scientific dictionary meaning.
It is a "force" sensed my many, especially the  Native Americans there, and psychics who visit.  A mystical, magical force.  Something transforming and primitive.  A place of worship, an enlightening place of  energy readjustment and purification. You need to sit quietly where it is and meditate.  It is somewhat disorienting --maybe something moving, passing   there? , whirlling maybe. A place when you align better to earth and heaven above, a balancing.
People say they can feel what I feel when I describe the un-describable!! I hope you can grasp what I felt. I think the primitive part of my brain is still well developed, that is what I have been told.It is like a flashlight shines into the dark of your brain.  I am an odd one. It is O.K. to laugh or think I am a looney.  I  am among thousands who migrate there from all over the world, and yes I guess some are nuts, but most are highly evolved, intelligent and respected people  connecting to some  inner and spiritual "call". I definitely march to that proverbial "different drummer". I will probably be banned now by the majority of fans here!!  Oh well!  Love you anyway.
That is enough revelation by me. Remember I am strong and happy, so somethin' is going right, O.K?  But Jeez, am I scarey, or what! LOL!
Posted:  10 Jan 2008 06:38
The more you post the more intriqued I am. Very interesting.

Hey David, That photo you reposted isn't mine but one I found off the internet. It's a guys layout in Japan. He used a psp in the building and ran ads through it as a billboard. Really cool actually. I was using some of those as how I'm thinking of putting my city together.

I see I'm not outdone hey!!! That reply was just as long wow!!! hahahhahaa. I'll email you back tomorrow hey!

Mrs N.

I don't think it's weird at all. I think the world has some strange places that science can not explain. There's a place up here in Canada where there's a hill. Every thing and I mean everything rolls up it. It's in Ontario, The hill is Like against gravity. People shut off their cars and they roll up it, if you lay down a bowling ball it rolls up it, Scientists have yet to figure out why things roll up this hill. Then there is the Barmuda Triangle and many other odd places. So to have a place where people get healed or feel re energized etc, I think is very possible. As far as being more evolved, I don't buy into the whole evolution idea. Nothing in nature gets better over time. Though I do believe that we are created in a way that we connect with nature.

Anyways, I guess Revelation time is over, dictated by you hey!!! No banning from me, it's been fun. And thanks for the love hey!! hahaha. Keep smiling and drumming! oh yeah and dancing!!!

News from Kryptonsite.

Pencils2MediaMoguls Final Tally: 700,000 Pencils!
The Pencils2MediaMoguls campaign is now over, with over 700,000 pencils going to the studio moguls to let them know we want them to make a fair deal to get our writers back to work.

Their final delivery will take place in New York on January 14.

An announcement of the people who will be getting phone calls from Erica Durance, Laura Vandervoort, and Michael Rosenbaum has been made. Congratulations to:

Gregory Roberts (Michael Rosenbaum Phone Call)
Braemon Loomis (Erica Durance Phone Call)
Jachin Rupe (Laura Vandervoort Phone Call)

Unless we're mistaken, Smallville fans sent more pencils than any other fandom!

Unfortunately, the writers' strike is still ongoing, and it's looking like we're going to end up with a shorter season unless some miracle happens very soon. Remember, though, that six episodes of Smallville remain so be sure to watch - good ratings for those mean The CW will have no choice but to give us an eighth season!

Also:

Only Three More Weeks!
Unless The CW changes their minds yet again, Smallville will be returning with new episodes on January 31. The show's return will feature a return appearance by a popular Smallville villain from Season Five (you know, that guy who's on Torchwood next week and also did that vampire show), AND it is a continuation of the Bizarro story started in "Gemini." Don't miss it!

Anyways I'll stay tune for more hey! I'm still feeling crappy. My energy level is so low. I tried working today but I just don't have the energy. I think I'm going to take another couple of days off, till Monday I think. I've got a huge tree to buck up. I'm going to give my brother the wood for his house. It's a massive fir tree that came down. It's been so windy and stormy here the last month. So much wind and rain. I mentioned in another thread somewhere that I really need some sunshine!!!  Hmmmm How I could use a nice week laying out on the sand of a beach....  Maybe... I'll go somewhere. I here Hawaii calling!!!   David you wanna hang out in Florida for a while? Maybe like a week? I'm serious. I know in your email you said your a long ways away, but I need  some sun, it'd be cool to hang out with a buddy!!! Think about being in the warm sun on a beach, pretty girls, no work.... fun times!!!  What do you think?

Ha-ha, well if you can talk Allison into going too maybe I'll consider it hey!!  I think they are back to filming over in Vancouver.  So get to feeling better, go over there, and let me know what she says, hey!!  LOL!!

Seriously, Florida is okay, my brother, Gerry, and I flew down there several years ago - really had a time around the town.  What was really cool was we were there when the space shuttle was returning from a mission.  Now, we did not know about this in time to head out to the landing strip, but we were hanging out at the pool and heard the sonic boom the shuttle made when it re-entered the Earth's atmosphere.  We ran back upstairs to our room in time to see the shuttle land on television - really cool.  Definitely fun times!!
