Hey I spent an hour tonight on a new building.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2069/2187323462_8a02c5ab94.jpg?v=0

This is the left over bases from my Kato office buildings. You can see I made a skyscraper out of the middle sections in the back ground. That left me with three bases. If I was going to use them I had to change them so that they'd look decent in the city as far as buildings. So I combined two bases into one building. Took the roof off one and used it for the middle, built a window in where the door was for the third floor and added some signs. On the other building I repainted it and reversed the roof and painted and aged it so it looked a bit different than the four story building. I still have to put signs on that building.

I made the four story building into and office building with a Tim Horton's donut shop in the bottom. Tim Horton's is a huge Donut shop up here. There's like 15 of them just in Victoria. A Canadian Icon!!!

I like how it turned out!!!

Looks great Bob!!  I love the Tim Horton signage, nice touch!!  Sounds like Tim Horton's is the Krisy Kreme of Canada, eh!

Scaper how about use a Time-Rider action figure and create a mini movie for youtube for me. We'll need to blow up some buildings though.

Once I get the city together I'd do that. You'd have to help me I've never put a movie together. Maybe when I'm over in the Vancouver Film School I can sweet talk someone in helping me put a good one together. I do have Sony Movie Studio dvd... though I've never opened the box yet.

I also have a bunch of crappy buildings that I won't use now. I've been tinkering with this train layout since High School. So obviously my artistic talent has improved a lot since I was 18 so I have a ton of older buildings that I wouldn't care if we put a small fireworks bomb in it. .  Maybe if David Comes out this way in the spring we can put one together!

I'd like to learn how to make these online movies anyways. I always have these off the wall creative ideas, so I should find out!

Here's my latest conquest. I was waiting for the final kit to arrive off ebay. These kits are so hard to find. They were made in the 60's and they were difficult to work with.

This is the final product....

If you want to see how I put this together, there's about twelve photos or so from the start to finish....

So glad I've finished this one. I've going to try and finish another one tomorrow. I'm pretty excited about it. If I do I'll post the final product on here.

I do know one thing if you film some buildings blowing up, you should definitely plan out the shot really well, maybe even have a 2 or 3 cameras set up at different angles so not to waste the shot. Seeing as how once you blow up a building it's shot. Unless you can repair it of course.

Well I worked on this thing till four in the morning! as I decided I'm taking the day off tomorrow...oooops today!

Anyways it's getting close but I'm so happy how this building is coming together!

Here's a progress for you. I hope you guys don't mind me sharing these with you!!! It's fun for me hey!

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2004/2192567148_c76ea30899.jpg?v=0

To show you how I made the top section...I had extra parts left over from other buildings I bashed together to make high rises. This is a base from a Kato building I cut it, sanded it, glued and shaped it to fit inside the top section, so if you look in the windows there will be a board room.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2094/2191780963_853845f518.jpg?v=0

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2398/2192569840_1c661068ea.jpg?v=0

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2385/2192570714_838f548ee1.jpg?v=0

Then I made a mechanical room again stolen from an extra roof top. I sanded the top of it, and cut up a plastic telephone pole and painted it silver for the spire...

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2267/2192571628_2b21cb2b76.jpg?v=0

Then glued it to the top section of the building.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2247/2191780145_ef627469ee.jpg?v=0

This latest skyscraper was built from a total of sixteen DPM Hotel Kits.

They look like this.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2383/2130863600_cee0442278.jpg?v=0

I have a lot of finishing work to do to this building, but I hope I will have it finished tomorrow. Again I am really happy how this is looking  so far!

Thanks guys..

I did a bit more work on this tonight, mostly on the base.

I still have some canopies to put over the doors, and a bit of aging to do. Especially on the back alley wall. But it's getting there

Is the blue on a sort of ultra-moderne bldg.

Would that be a great idea for a city park or what? a towering thing like you have there, with the huge circular windows filled with HUGE fish, maybe octopuss and sharks, etc.etc.( I'd say the whole structure filled with sea life water -BUT-The bottom floor could have a nice suite of meeting rooms, and lovely decor with a reception area ( and some displays of info about the fish, etc.)  A really nice restaurant too.  Have I just had the brainstorm or what guys.  Think of it.  What an amazing structure instead of paying a million for some dumb statue-structure no one likes or wants or understands,(Every city seems to pay some "artist" to create a creepy structure) BUT-- Bob submits to the city council who vote--his plans for something like the blue thingy up there, just like that with those huge round windows and full of BIG sea life --WAIT!!! With one of those outside elevators so folks can observe!!  OH!  I want to go.  Make it Bobby!! Just want 10% for the "idea".
Someones gotta do it.  That will be soooooooo coooool

Shadow, that blue thing is a plastic bag holder When I get plastic bags from grocery stores I stuff them in that thing. It works really well, because sometimes you need a small bag and sometimes you need a bigger bag!

Hey Tim I think we are in for the long haul on this one! I'm not holding my breath. That's why I've posted photos of my hobby, and trying to keep some convo going. It was getting really boring on here. If you want me to stop though I can do that.

All I know is I really do miss my two shows Heroes and Smallville. But that's it, T.V. is such a waste of time! I like doing things even if it's building my train set, or working on the Mustang! (summer project) Anyways I think we have a long wait ahead of us!

No that's ok, but keep most of the miscellaneous posts in the general section just for the sake of organization.

As a webmaster my main concern is organization and keeping fresh content going. Superman takes priority, but in the event there's nothing going on miscellaneous talk is always better than no talk.

Thanks Timbo!

Hey my brother's name is Tim hey!

So what is Tim doing with all his extra time now that there's no T.V. to watch? Upgrading the site???

My biggest requests would be:

* having private messages
* No time limit on editing you posts
* and the biggest one being able to post polls where everyone can vote, where percentages are shown etc. Please give me this one please please please!!!

O.K. now I'm really tired... I finished my model tonight. Another 4 in the morning sprint!!! Wow!

The three sections are just sitting on each other, so they aren't perfectly lined up yet.

But I'm really happy how it turned out!

I hand made the canopies, and I found some extra parts to make air conditioners etc...
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2133/2196724699_7f26546fb5_o.jpg

I hand painted the window frames on the back wall as well as aged it and the sidewalk.

Well got to go to bed now, start landscaping again this week... well a little bit!

Well I increased the user edit time to 130,000 seconds.  There's no option for indefinite except for moderators. Let's try that and see if it doesn't blow something up, and if that works I'll change it to a million seconds.

The private message thing would have to be integrated right into the board script which might be hard unless we get lucky and a programmer joins the board.

So you want polls that you can create. I know there is a poll script I can get, but I don't think it allows users to change the polls. I'll check on it.

I can't do private messages but I can look for some sort of Poll of the day thing online that Tim (or I) could put at the bottom of the site.

On my Message board, from Invision Free all these different things come free and are already integrated.

Hey Scaper check out Bravenet.com. They've got a poll creator with a code you can paste into the text box. It might work.
