Here's a few more buildings for you D.Man!!!

This is a bunch of Kato buildings from Japan. They come in 6 story buildings but can be ripped apart and added together. I'm waiting for four more so I can add a bit of height to the back buildings and two more floors to the front buildings, and to complete a whole block. They will share an expanded sidewalk and have some trees and a fountain.

Those blue buildings might work for my futuristic scenes I'm  working on for the next Time-Rider.

Writers Guild Makes Agreement with Spyglass Entertainment
Firm Behind The Sixth Sense, 27 Dresses Gets Deal
By Linda Haugsted -- Multichannel News, 1/16/2008 12:43:00 PM

The Writers Guild of America has negotiated a contract agreement with another independent producer, this time with the entertainment company which has produced The Sixth Sense and, currently, 27 Dresses.

The deal was struck with Spyglass Entertainment, founded by industry veterans Roger Birnbaum and Gary Barber. The parties said the agreement is similar to the pacts forged with Worldwide Pants and United Artists and address compensation for new media.

"Spyglass Entertainment can now work with the most talented writers in the business -- members of the Writers Guild," said WGA presidents Patric Verrone and Michael Winship in a joint statement.

I wonder if these smaller signed contract negotiations with these corporations will hurt the cause of the big networks. The Writers union can now say...look all these smaller corporations have dealt with us, so we aren't going to accept anything less from you guys.

I would imagine it would make a stronger case for the Writers.

Umm...is this good or bad for us??

AMPTP Makes Deal with DGA, High-Fives All Around!
Finally, finally, the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers and the Directors Guild of America shook hands and made a deal today. After days of waiting at the edge of their seats, Hollywood observers can sit back with a sigh of relief.

In a joint statement from the CEOs of the AMPTP and the DGA, the deal allows the "industry's creative talent ... [to] now participate financially in every emerging area of new media." The CEOs went on to add that "The agreement demonstrates beyond any doubt that our industry's producers are willing and able to work with the creators of entertainment content to establish fair and flexible rules for this fast-changing marketplace."

Following that statment, AMPTP prez Nick Counter gave himself a pat on the back and a big high-five to his new DGA besties on getting through such a tough deal. In a statement, he said "Of the 307 labor agreements the AMPTP has negotiated since 1982, this new DGA-AMPTP pact surely dealt with some of the most challenging issues we've ever faced ... In the end though," he continued, "both parties were determined to focus on the core issues that are most important to all of us, and the result is an agreement that breaks important new ground for our entire industry."

The powers that be also invited the WGA to engage in similar types of talks that they had to try and come to an agreement. This is one great step for Hollywood ... but will the quick diplomacy have any impact on the WGA's efforts? Does this put more pressure on Guild prez Patric Verrone and other negotiators to shake on it — and quick? — Anna Dimond.

I watched the news tonight there was no mention of it at all.

Hey I'm starting a new building!!! hahaha...

I bought five of these kits.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2401/2202793507_896d805c05.jpg?v=0

This is what they are suppose to look like out of the box.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2286/2203586828_839be66896.jpg?v=0

I reconfigured the building by ripping them apart and putting together what I thought was the best look.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2149/2203586860_5d46dd6e05.jpg?v=0

I hated the green plastic so I've painted them, added some details, I'll only post the first building as I'm still working on the second one.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2044/2202824933_98e41a28ca_o.jpg

I added a green roof and a billboard.
I used yellow red and blue never hard puddy to make brown dirt in the planter boxes.

To give you an idea of how large this building is, and the hard work for detail... it's 11.5 inches tall and only 2 1/4 by 2 1/4 inches square. So it's pretty tiny.

I like how you even got a little bill board sign. Now that's detail.

Thanks, I like detail actually. It makes everything so much more realistic. I really hope I can start to put this city together sometime this coming year. It's going to be fun. Though I do need quite a bit more stuff.

I had no idea these bldgs. were that small.  Do you work with magnifiers?  I can recall seeing somemhere a "Craft magnifyer-frame" worn around the neck, but I think it might hamper your getting as close as you need to be.  How do you manage?  Some tools for small scale work i suppose, and maybe glasses at 3.00 ?  This would all give me a headache from hell.  i get migraines.  i could never do what you do and be charming enuff to live with.  Congrats on your control! That is amazing work!

Gotta give ya props on the buildings.  Hate to ask it, again, but...any new stuff on the strike??

HAHAHAHA... Nope, I still haven't heard what you posted before. It doesn't seem to be big news for some reason. Interesting indeed.

As far as the glasses... knock on wood..I have 20 20 vision. I just use lots of lights and just a steady hand and patience! It's fun actually. I've almost got my other one done, I'll post it tonight sometime. Thanks for the compliments too hey!

How big are the little dudes? This is just mindboggling! The signs must be fingernail size.  Really, no joke, this i could never do.
You should go train as a brain surgeon, I'd trust ya!Steady hand plus
No wonder this can all fit in a house.  now i get it.
Posted:  20 Jan 2008 23:26
I like the little people it gives a size perspective. One I could use for adding people to the background for time-rider shots.

Do you glue the little figures down? I can imagine a little wind would just blow them away.  Right? They must be hard to deal with.  Do they ever run awayBad little fellows.
That reminds me of a song! "Short People" ( by Randy Newman ,who also wrote the music for Toy Story)
You can hear it on You Tube if you don't know it.
Posted:  21 Jan 2008 08:06
If the little people ran away I think I would loose it!

hahahhahahaa

Yes I glue them down, I tried tweezers at first but I don't have enough control. So I jam them in my finger nail until they are somewhat wedged in my finger, add glue then push them into the small droplet of glue till they set and then they pull out of my finger and fingernail and they are set in place!!! hahaha... this is how I do it!!!

Hey someone asked me for my engines so I thought I'd post what I have. I still haven't bought my bullet trains yet but will soon. So I posted some photos of a cool bullet train layout from Japan. I really like how he did it, though it's very Japanese. I'm going to make mine close to the new Vancouver skytrains, or what they Call Canada Line.... They are really cool. I'll post of photo of those sometime!

Here's some of my engines. I don't have a lot but I photographed them anyways!

This is an N scale Kato Loco. Amazing quality. When it runs you can hardly hear it. It's about 5 inches long...

I hope some of you watched American Gladiator tonight.  It is good they brought the show back, I think.  But it is so unfair.  The opposition is toooooo big in comparison with the contestants, don't you think?  One guy( is 6 feet 9 and they weighed close to or more than 200 pounds and 2nites contestants were weighing about 165, one was 6 foot and the other guy was 5 foot 9.  They were outmatched and it amazing they were not squashed dead!  They had the girls too and they were against Amazon ugly "women" who sort of looked like females--but all buff fat and muscular, UGGH!  I say, get rid of the Amazonians and have them go learn to dance or how to get pregnant, and match physically a little better the guys so it isn't so slanted toward the huge men winning against the ave. sized men. Yet the 5'9 guy was really good and unseated one of the Hulk like guys who were former winners.)  Did anyone catch the show 2nite?
Well, I like the show cause it reminds a little of Smallville  action--  But this is real.
And how about those UFO's in Texas????  How cool is that?
Posted:  22 Jan 2008 07:54
I watched a very disappointing hockey game!

The Canucks lost to Minnesota, Division rivals. They outshot, and chanced them but lost 4-2... Oh well....What can you do.

I've never watched American Gladiators.

As far as the UFO sightings, I think it's so cool. I'm a firm believer in them. I've seen something very weird. I was driving up the highway here in Victoria. It was a really cloudy night and it was about 1 in the morning. Anyways these three beams of light shown through the cloud cover. They were intense beams of light that when straight to the ground. The weird part was the clouds never defracted the beams of light. The other weird thing was these beams of light were wide and huge. Though they only lasted a few seconds then it was pitch black again. What ever it was, nothing man made could have made it.

David,

The whole dust thing is a huge issue. I think once I do build this thing, I'll make a accessible plexiglass case for it.

WOW!  That is eerie and wonderful, sounds like you saw a UFO, I can't imagine what else that could be!  I never have.  But once my family and I saw a ghost. My dud moved us out ASAP.
Posted:  22 Jan 2008 22:25
I have had many angelic experiences. I've also had some very not so good experiences too.

What's the story? What did you see? Can you explain? You've got me curious now!
