I'm a fan of the show, but this was the worst episode they've ever made. It's went from a run for your life, guns a blazing, dodge the monster, action extravaganza as we used to get to a cheap horror flick on television with this episode. The boys have been using the guns less this season all around as it is, and I don't like it at all.
I know perfectly well why the writer or writers didn't want Sam and Dean to use guns on the two pagan monsters. They wanted to make it easier for them to get captured so they make us all sick with a 5 minute torture scene. This type of thing is just sadistic.
My biggest rule with monster movies is simple. As long as it's a fight scene I can deal with just about anything. You start putting people in chairs or whatever and torturing them that disturbs me.
Before the torture scene the pagan ritual room was so blood filled I got this terrible nautious feeling that went beyond anything I can describe. I didn't think at my age I could be so disturbed by a TV show. How they got this episode past the censors I'll never know.
The only positive thing I can say about this episode was at least it had a happy ending, and the flashbacks to Sam and Dean's past Christmas days were pretty interesting.
Get back to the action, and forget this new torture genre, or I'll be tuning off this show.
