Wow. Just saw it on the front page of yahoo.
NEW YORK - Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday at a downtown Manhattan residence, and police said drugs may have been a factor. He was 28. NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said Ledger had an appointment for a massage at the Manhattan apartment believed to be his home. The housekeeper who went to let him know the masseuse had arrived found him dead at 3:26 p.m.
A large crowd of paparazzi and gawkers began gathering Tuesday evening outside the building on an upscale block in SoHo, where several police officers guarded the door.
The Australian-born actor was nominated for an Oscar for "Brokeback Mountain," where he met Michelle Williams in 2005. The two had lived in Brooklyn and had a daughter, Matilda, until they split up last year.
He most recently appeared in "I'm Not There," in which he played one of the many incarnations of Bob Dylan as did Cate Blanchett, whose performance in that film earned an Oscar nomination Tuesday for best supporting actress.
Ledger was to appear as the Joker this year in "The Dark Night," a sequel to 2005's "Batman Begins." He's had starring roles in "A Knight's Tale" and "The Patriot," and played the suicidal son of Billy Bob Thornton in "Monster's Ball."
Ledger grew up in Perth, and began doing amateur theater at age 10. At 16, he moved to Sydney to pursue an acting career, quickly landing TV movie roles and guest spots on Australian television.
After several independent films and a starring role in the short-lived Fox TV series "Roar," Ledger moved to Los Angeles and costarred in "10 Things I Hate About You," a teen comedy reworking of "The Taming of the Shrew."
Offers for other teen flicks came his way, but Ledger turned them down, preferring to remain idle than sign on for projects he didn't like.
"It wasn't a hard decision for me," Ledger told the Associated Press in 2001. "It was hard for everyone else around me to understand. Agents were like, 'You're crazy,' my parents were like, 'Come on, you have to eat.'"

. He was sooo handsome. Can people just be happy and take Advil if they hurt. I had a friend die like that just about 6 weeks ago, 29 years old. Carmen, God rest her soul. Her sister takes pills too and I expect she will be gone soon..get this SO does their mom. No hope for that family whatsoever. Many wrote to the prescribing M.D.--and they still got/get the pills. It is just criminal! All of them were good decent people. Nice people, and now--dead or almost. I suppose that is what happened to Heath too. you know, 3 or 4 Advil will kill pain. You don't need more in most cases of pain.
My phone just rang--another of my fiends moaning in sadness about Heath... He really impacted the girls. That is a loss alright

They're saying his role in Dark Knight made Ledger have problems sleeping. That's probably why he ODed on sleeping pills. Remembering Heath Ledger. R.I.P.

Fox News aired an interview with him where he talked about having just finished up work on "The Dark Night". He looked very sporatic, un-nerved, almost manic in his demeanor.
No one will ever really know why things like this happen.

Found this on yahoo news
Quote: Ledger said in an interview in November that "Dark Knight" and last year's "I'm Not There," took a heavy toll. He said he "stressed out a little too much" during the Dylan film, and had trouble sleeping while portraying the Joker, whom he called a "psychopathic, mass-murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy."
"Last week I probably slept an average of two hours a night," Ledger told The New York Times. "I couldn't stop thinking. My body was exhausted, and my mind was still going." He said he took two Ambien pills, which only worked for an hour.
Sounds like he may have gotten too intense over his roles especially the Joker. __________________

Sounds like from what I'm hearing there wasn't anybody around possibly to notice that he wasn't doing so hot. A person starts to lose a lot of sleep they are liable to not make the best decisions like taking too many pills. Who knows maybe even be unaware of how many he did take. __________________

Sleep deprivation will do that. You can even hallucinate. Kinda sad that some of these younger Stars work so hard get to the top, then they spend a lot of energy to remain anonymous or go unnoticed(papparazi I guess) which can lead to something like this.

Does anyone else remember reading somewhere (I cannot recall where now) that Ledger locked himself in a hotel room for 3 consecutive weeks (or maybe it was 6 weeks) without ever leaving his room to prepare himself to play the Joker??
I remember when I worked as a District Manager for the local newspaper back home. It got to the point to where I was working 90+ hours a week and maybe got 2 hours of sleep a week. It got to the point to where if someone just asked me a question, I would snap at them. I finally wound up in a car wreck and took that as a sign to move on to other work. __________________The Bible is so powerful. It's not to be left on your shelf. I'm really thinking the sleep problems had something to do with it. It takes a major toll on your body as well as your mind to not get the proper sleep. __________________

The latest
Jack Nicholson — who, like Ledger in The Dark Knight, once played the maniacal and dark Joker on the big screen — raised eyebrows on Wednesday by telling reporters in London, "Well, I warned him," when asked about Ledger's death. Though Nicholson did not elaborate, he could have been alluding to the intensity that comes with playing "a psychopathic, mass-murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy," as Ledger recently characterized the role. Working off two hours of sleep a night, Ledger had said, "I couldn't stop thinking. My body was exhausted, and my mind was still going." __________________

Doesn't make sense, Nicholson survived the role, as did Ceser Romero. __________________The Bible is so powerful. It's not to be left on your shelf. It's to outline even the simplest scriptures that can mean so much in building yourself up.

You know she's a human being and she's a mess. She could so easily end up like Hieth or Anna Nicole, no one deserves to die like that, like a stray dog, but worse. It's the drugs and booze, psychological mess from the fame and fortune, having no life, cameras in your face every minute, having no ability to even walk down the street without being chased or mauled.
I mean Kate Moss was out the other day without her body guards and hords of people crowded her. Men were groping her breasts, people pushing her, taking her photograph. I mean it's crazy. These poor people who most have no deep rooted base to stand on as it is go crazy. I feel sorry for Britney. I don't like her, but I worry that she'll end up like these others. I mean how can she get away from all the nutzo photographers and the craziness. __________________ Don't mess with me...I'm like a super BABY!!!
