SupermanTV.net Forum / Superman / Smallville / Erica Durance at MegaCon

Posted:  24 Jan 2008 16:56
Erica Durance (Lois Lane in Smallville) will be at the MegaCon in Orlando, FL March 6th, and 7th.She will be charging $25 to sign. The cost in advance for one day is $22.37 for one day. There will be Friday as well for the convention but she will not be there. For all three days the cost is $52.19 in advance. At the door is $24.00 for one day, or $55.00 for all three. I just wanted to let you guys know. I have no affiliation with the convention though.

I'd love to go just to be in Florida where it's warmer.

I am shocked that there is a $25 charge for an "autograph"--Am I right on how I read that?  If so, I think it is soooo wrong to charge.
Posted:  24 Jan 2008 20:07
I thought so to, but you know I got to thinking though, why else would an actor take the time to go all over the place to sign autographs. Too bad the conventions don't pay them.

What a hay bag! Unless it's for charity. But if it's not she'd have to pay me to wait in line for her autograph! She's probably running low on money from not working!!!

I can't stand the girl! Blah!!!!

O.K. maybe that's not very nice but she really really really bugs me!

No, she is charging $25 per auto.

Erika..... BLAAAH!!! I have never liked that girl. She's so fake! The first episode I ever saw her on Smallville I almost stopped watching the show. Sorry I know she's a fellow Canadian but I just don't like her. From her acting to her interviews she's so up on herself and she's so fake, She's a minus for Smallville in my opinion anyways!

I have to disagree. I think she's ok.

tim, the conventions DO pay them for their appearance. the reason they (the celebs) charge is because of idiots who come up to them with 50 million things to sign and then turn around and sell them on ebay. the thinking is: "if they're gonna make money off my name, i better be compensated." it's BS but that's the way she goes. it's the same reason pro athletes charge for their autograph. i think they should just be happy with the fact that people actually want their autograph but on the flip side, i can see their point too. personnally, i don't admire anybody enough to get their autograph. i mean really, celebs, big deal. although i did get Margot Kidders autograph and it cost me 15$. but i assure you, that was a '1 time only' thing.

You know, If I had an old baseball and a time machine, I'd pay 25 bucks for Babe Ruth's autograph!

But she's no Babe! hahahhahaahahahaha!!!!

Oh my I think I out did myself this time!

I personally think she should have a one or two item limit and not charge per auto.
Posted:  25 Jan 2008 07:44
good idea. but at this point they probably make so much money charging that it won't change. you should have seen the wad of cash margot kidder was counting at the comic con i was at. and let's be honest, she's hardly an 'A-list' celeb. if SHE can make that much money, just think how much someone like, for example, jessica alba can make. she'd be charging at least 100$. i heard, and this is totally unconfirmed, that harrison ford charges 250$.

That's sick. I don't care who you are in the celebrity world. You (celebrity) make money from you fans. We pay the tickets at the box office. We watch Cnn, NHL, NFL, NBA games to drive up ratings so that you can advertise your shows to us, who again in turn pay at the box office. With out us, you make nothing. Then you want us to pay 25 bucks or Harrison 250 for an autograph. Kiss my ass!!! That's a joke. Now if it's for charity then I think that's awesome. But for personal greed, get lost. I have no use for these people. I love at the end of each Canuck Game at GM place Roberto Luongo Gives his Goalie Stick out to a young kid by throwing it over the boards. Do you how much he could sell those game sticks for? He's the best goalie in the League, yet he gives back to the fans in thanks! That's what it's about!

I'm telling you Hollywood stars need to look in the mirror and pinch themselves and realize that they are just a person like everyone else. What crap!

Erika needs to sign her fans in thanks!

Don't celebs still give free autographs in everyday non-convention circumstances?

You know when I first found out celebs at these conventions charge I was perturbed, but you know you can't blame them. If I was a celeb, I want some money before I got on a plane to Lord only knows where to sign autographs. Now if they just happen to be in the neighborhood and you ask them for one, if they have time, I don't think they should charge you.

Author's don't charge!
And I do think, yes, make it a limit to one auto. to  each and  MAYBE (I am not sure about that)a standard fee of $5, no matter who you are.  I hear the currant Pres. sends out things to kids autographed, when they write a letter to him.  Now he may have a stamper, I don't know--or a secretary to do it--but stars are hot one day and cold the next.  I would never pay for any autograph of anyone.  That is the truth.  No one.  Well, wait a minute maybe Zod!  LOL.

And, I also don't think she should be charging $25 because she is not even like a Jessica Alba.

she is a nice person you know.

I've never met her in person so she could be. I'm just saying how she come across on screne. I apologize for judging someone on how I see them on screne and interviews. Though I am speaking how I see her. I don't think she should charge her fans for signatures though.  I agree with Shadow that I'd never pay another person for their autograph. No ones better than me, nor am I better than anyone else. We are all brothers and sisters. Plus give back to the fans that support you and in the end pay your salary.

Zod---OK, lets see--I'll get an autograph (I have to pay $5) and as Ursa,(you said I am)  thenI already got 1/2 the throne--Thanks.
Lucky me! Now can you dance the tango?

Tim, I would take the Free autograph. I bet more than just I would.  You're the administrator after all, and about to be famous for Timer-Rider!! That is way cool!(I can say "I knew him when, See--here is his autograph")

Another thing with charging these autographs...

What happens to the young girl who doesn't have rich parents. She loves smallville, and looks up to the younger women on smallville. She has posters of Erika on her wall in her bedroom and really would love to meet her. Well she gets her chance, but her parents are  very poor and can't afford the 25 bucks for their an autograph for their little girl. I mean this is a very real life thing. I think it's horrible that she's charging to sign things.

I know Carrol Shelby will sing any Ford product or Mustang part for 25 dollars. Though every cent goes to the Cancer Research foundation. That's fine by me. I'm sending down a couple of items for him to sign for my Stang.

If you send a singer a piece of their sheet music, and ask for an autograph, that is free--- but you need to send an envelope( 9X12 and return postage and I suggest a backing board and a poly bag so it doesn't get crushed or wet.)  I used to know  of a guy who did this. He also published a small catalog with current addresses, some HOME addresses too.  I had one, but I don't know where it is and I can't remember his name!  Only one kept his sheet music and never send anything back!  So  it is at your own risk.  It is worth a try.  Music can be bought at most music stores or places that teach how to play.

So if I ask David to sign me bag of potatoes from his farm all I have to do is send him a big sack? HAHAHAHHAAHA!!!
