"Smallville" often contains sly references to other superheroes.  In "Reunion," one character speaks of heading back to Gotham.  Even if Bruce Wayne never will appear!

In "Zero," Mandy's brother, the guy who kidnaps Lex, speaks of how he was in prison in Central City.  Is he perhaps the Flash's enemy Captain Cold, Mirror Master or Captain Boomerang?  Central City is home of the Flash.  A further irony: Michael Rosenbaum did the voice of the Flash on the animated "Justice League."  Great job, too!

But Mandy's brother also refers to a diner in Bludhaven, which is the home of Nightwing, the superhero persona assumed by Dick Grayson after he ceased to be Robin.

Nightwing is a Kryptonian Batman in the bottle city of Kandor, a Kryptonian city shrunk by Brainiac.  Hope this is not comic book information overload for you!

Even a movie superhero has been referenced--a Jim Carrey movie superhero!  At the end of "Stray" Ryan is sent off to Edge City, home of the Mask!

Kara also refers to going to Coast City.  If I remember right, that's the home of the Green Lantern.  Star City is Green Arrow's original city.

There are a few reasons Bruce won't appear on smallville.  there's already so much going on in Batman in today's media.  The 2 new batman movies, plus the new Anime batman coming from DC later this year.
