I got more news than Chloe or Lois can ever report.  Here's the scoop:

Season 8 Titles Revealed!
Thanks to some clever spying that will likely get us banned from going anywhere near the Smallville production office, we now have a list of the 22 episodes planned for next year.

Here's the list, complete with our speculation on what these titles mean:

Episode #1 is titled "Fotress," and sounds like it would be a likely candidate to follow an episode that the Spoilers page reveals as "Arctic"... since it is known that Kristin Kreuk is only doing a limited number of episodes, the fact that episode #4 is "Goodbye" should be no surprise.

The titles "Earths" and "Infinite" might imply a Crisis is on the horizon; "Green" sounds like a likely title for an episode featuring the Green Lantern. If "Science" features the return of Zor-El, I will personally name my first two children Al and Miles.

It is expected that "Metropolis" will be the series finale... or is it the launching pad for a Kara spin-off? Guess we'll know in about 13 months...

#8-1 "Fortress"
#8-2 "Secrets"
#8-3 "Distraction"
#8-4 "Goodbye"
#8-5 "Water"
#8-6 "Legion"
#8-7 "Slide"
#8-8 "Earths"
#8-9 "Infinite"
#8-10 "Move"
#8-11 "Green"
#8-12 "Hazard"
#8-13 "Cry"
#8-14 "Science"
#8-15 "Lies"
#8-16 "Gotham"
#8-17 "Night"
#8-18 "Blockbuster"
#8-19 "Countdown"
#8-20 "Capes"
#8-21 "Penultimate"
#8-22 "Metropolis"

Sad news here:
KryptonSite Is Shutting Down
It is with great regret that I am announcing that I am shutting down KryptonSite, effective tomorrow.

The real reason? Running KryptonSite might be a conflict of interest as I have actually been contracted to write an episode in Season 8! I'm not allowed to say much about the episode, except for that the title is "Legion," and if you thought "Hiro comes from the future" was cool, imagine it with three super-powered teens from the future who seem to know all about Clark!

Beyond that, I have to admit, I am very disappointed to hear that my favorite Smallville character is soon to be killed off of the show, and it might just be best to close the site to protest this senseless character assassination.

Thanks to everyone who has visited the site over the years. It's been a lot of fun. I will still be popping in from time to time on my other websites, including HeroSite, TerminatorSite, and the page devoted to my new favorite show, GossipSite.

"Sleeper" Spoiler: Battle Of The Dueling Ashmores
As you may have noticed in the above episode description, Smallville's April 24 episode reveals that Shawn Ashmore, Aaron's brother and guest star in the Season 1 episode "Leech," will be making another apperance on the show as Eric Summers - who, it seems, is a cousin of Jimmy Olsen's and is not happy about his choice in women.

The CW's Official Description: "Sleeper"
Airs April 24, 2008 on The CW

SERIES REGULAR AARON ASHMORE'S BROTHER AND "BATTLESTAR GALACTICA"'S KATEE SACKHOFF GUEST STAR — Eric Summers (Shawn Ashmore), who once "leech"ed Clark's powers, returns as a sleeper agent working for a secret organization. Meanwhile, a new meteor-infected character named Vanessa (Katee Sackhoff) has the ability to make others fall asleep on command. Tom Welling, Michael Rosenbaum, Kristin Kreuk, Allison Mack, Erica Durance, Laura Vandervoort, Aaron Ashmore, John Schneider, and John Glover also star. Whitney Ransick directed the episode written by Caroline Dries (#3T6317AF).

Rosenbaum Out; Marsters Upped To Series Regular For Season 8
KryptonSite has received some news that a lot of people feared - apparently negotiations to continue Michael Rosenbaum's contract into Season Eight have fallen through, and Michael will not be back next year as a series regular.

It is still hoped that Michael will return for guest appearances. Unfortunately, we cannot reach anyone representing Michael or the show for confirmation.

To try and control the fallout from losing two of the show's most popular characters (as Kristin Kreuk's Lana will only be back on a part-time basis), we hear the producers have tapped the ever-popular James Marsters for a series regular role as Brainiac. Marsters, of course, has a huge fan following from his work on Buffy and Angel as well as what he's done lately on Smallville, so this is quite a coup.

There has been no word yet on Allison Mack's status for next season; we're hearing strong rumors that an already-established show on a major network is looking to sign her if she should choose not to sign up for another year.

In addition to the Marsters casting, we hear Season 8 will also feature multiple guest shots by Dean Cain as Vandal Savage. The character used the alias of "Curtis Knox" in the early season 7 episode "Cure." Real-life husband and wife Michael McKean and Annette O'Toole are also expected to return for some appearances, as Perry White and Martha Kent, respectively. How the show will handle storylines without the presence of Lex Luthor is unknown at this time.

Finally this on Descent:
Revealed: Who Dies In Episode #7-16!
Surely you've heard the hints about a major character dying in an upcoming episode of Smallville.

KryptonSite can now EXCLUSIVELY confirm who that will be. It's not who the trailers make it look like it will be...
That Big Character Death: It's Shelby
Surely you've heard the hints about a major character dying in an upcoming episode of Smallville.

KryptonSite can now EXCLUSIVELY confirm who that will be. It's not who the trailers make it look like it will be... but instead, it's another very beloved member of the cast who's appeared in several episodes....

Who is it?

It's Shelby. As in Shelby, the dog.

Yes, the Smallville powers-that-be are pulling the bait and switch on us yet again. "Will it be Lionel at last?" you think. Nope. Nor is it Chloe, or Lana, or Lois, or anyone. It's THE DOG.

The behind-the-scenes reasoning for this is that Bud the Dog, who had been the famous "Air Bud" of the movies, is getting a bit old and his trainers felt it was time to finally retire.

Shelby made his first appearance in Season 4's Smallville episode "Krypto." He's been a fixture of the show ever since.

The big doggie death episode, "Descent," airs on April 17.

All compliments of Kryptonsite.

Anyone wanna guess who from the legion visits Clark? My guess is Brainiac 5, Lightning Lad, and Saturn
Girl.

Awesome finds Mattro.
