If you haven't seen "Iron Man" yet, I won't deliberately give away any major surprises. Still, to be safe, you should read this afterwards.
Tony Stark is like Clark Kent in that he is trying to undo a great wrong. For Clark, the meteor shower brought tragedy to Lana and Smallville.
Tony's problem is the weapons he's created are being used by people he didn't intend them for. So while in captivity he becomes Iron Man to fight against those people and his own weapons.
Even though I despise "Hulk," one element of "Hulk" appears here: just as the Hulk battles another monster, Tony Stark must battle another version of himself.
While I generally liked "Daredevil," I can see how it might have been helped with more humor. I laughed throughout "Iron Man." Tony Stark is one of the funniest wittiest characters since Peter Parker.
And Pepper Potts is the most sympathetic female character in a Marvel Movie ever!
In fact, what's so great about "Iron Man" is that normally I just sit through the stuff involving characters and dialogue waiting for the action to begin. But here even the non-action stuff is great! "Iron Man" is entertaining overall and throughout!
