SupermanTV.net Forum / Superman / Superman Returns Movie / Another Look at the Suit on Superman Returns Toys

Posted:  02 Dec 2005 18:43
You all know I'm not a fan of the new costume, but I saw these images of the suit on these new promotional pics for Superman Returns products. It seems to me that the suit doesn't look nearly as bad when it's a painting or drawing. Take a look at the bottom and tell me what you think.

I feel sorry for the boy that has to play with that thing.
Posted:  02 Dec 2005 23:32
well......i would too, its a frigin mug, who plays with a mug
Posted:  03 Dec 2005 03:38
I agree Snyderman, it is a harsh or strange parent who gives their child a mug to play with. Yes Tim I think that the colours of the suit do look better when drawn or painted which leads me to think that, like I said elsewhere on this board, it is the material that the suit is made of that creates most of the problems with suit.

Hey, my mom always bought me cartoon mugs to play with and I turned out ok. Believe it or not.

Yeah I guess your right superjon the material doesn't look the same as a painted picture, but it might look better the more we see Superman in action.
I'm in a optimistic mood.

Wow Tim, you must have had an interesting childhood. The more I see the suit in action, through footage that is coming from the movie, the more I am learning to live with it.
Posted:  08 Dec 2005 22:56
Yeah, those were the good old days. I still remember having to go outside to turn the antennae by hand so I could watch sesame street and that show with Spiderman, the Electric company. That kind of sucked when it was cold.

Maybe we can learn to live with the suit, but it's still kind of a shame. I mean it ought to be something that makes you go wow not something we have to endure like a spoonful of castor oil or 666.

Anybody remember that crap. 666 was like castor oil only worse so my dad thought it had to be good for you. I still don't understand how a Christian man could give his kid medicine called 666. It made you sick sick sick.

What Tim does it bring a whole new meaning to the term "devil inside". I wouldn't know about the bitter cold afterall I am from Queensland and your version of cold is very different from mine. I think that anything below 55*f is absolutely freezing to me(the brass monkey needs a welder kind of weather) but maybe to you sub 40*f is freezing.
Posted:  09 Dec 2005 17:47
Heck 50 degrees is crappy to me. Although it's been known to get down below 0 a few times here in TN.

I am guessing TN stands for Tennessee? Sorry about the temperature translation, Tim, but I was taking a rough guess at the fahrenheit version because we use celcius in Australia.
Posted:  10 Dec 2005 18:08
I'd like to visit Australia some time. I do hear you have a lot of dangerous critters though like snakes and scorpions. Is that true?

Tennessee has copper heads and brown recluse spiders, but I don't know of anybody ever being bit that I know of.

So since your in Australia did you not get to visit the Superman set? Got any photos?

Yes Tim we do have the 10 most deadly snakes in the world down here and 1 of the most deadly spiders, funny thing is the bite of the funnel web is only dangerous to humans and no other species, something about the toxin being specific to only human DNA. As much as I would have liked to have visited the set it was filmed in New South Wales, mostly in Sydney and some country areas. All of these places are a good distance from where I am plus I have been to Sydney a couple of times but didn't like it much because the people can be kind of stuck upon themselves a bit to much, they think that Sydney is the be all and end all of the entire country but the rest of the country doesn't share the same view. A good example of this is when terrorists made threats against Melbourne, all the journalists on Sydney TV were surprised and offended. The set was more closely guarded than either of the 2 Star Wars films. There is a new superman rollercoaster opening on the Gold Coast in 2 weeks called the superman escape(visit it online at supermanescape.com.au) and I wonder if they will get Brandon to come to the coast and sign some autographs when the movie comes out in June.
Posted:  13 Dec 2005 16:20
That would be neat if Brandon went there signing autographs.

So if I and my wife ever decided to visit Australia what are the odds , being greenhorns to your neck of the woods, that we might get bit by one of these varmints?

Well Tim if in doubt then follow the locals because they will know best in a situation where you are confronted by one of our many deadly creatures. You see we know what these creatures can do to you when they decide to protect themselves so best to avoid contact with them in the wild and go to see them in one of our zoos or reptile parks. The snakes are only out a lot in the hotter months which is October until April but the funnel web spider comes out in most of the year, he's not fussy and the male is the bigger and more aggressive of the two. He can also put his fangs straight through your toenail so around garden beds or leaf litter wear a tuff pair of shoes that can take a good hit and they are more prone to living in areas from Woolongong to Grafton where it is warm but not too hot. To be on the safe side and get some info on them do a google search for the funnelweb spider and Australia's venomous snakes.

Hmmm maybe I should stick to my neck of the woods. That spider doesn't sound all that friendly.

No mate by all means come and visit my wondeful country because I have been told by other Americans that I have met throughout the years it is a holiday you will never forget. With warm and friendly people plus the most unique animals on the planet.
Posted:  15 Dec 2005 23:24
Ok but if I get bit by some kind of strange creatster, I'm never coming back. Might be a while though got to save a lot of money. Oh and figure out a way to drive. I hate planes and boats.

Really Tim, you are a superman fan who hates to fly, now that is very odd because I personally love to fly. Also there are plenty of strange creatures to get bitten by in the USA maybe you should try some of them out first just to see how you handle it.
Posted:  20 Dec 2005 04:19
lol yeah get bit by everything you can in the states and build an imunity before traveling down under HAAHA
Posted:  21 Dec 2005 05:26
I was kidding but well you can try it if you wish to kal but we have different animals down here compared to the U S so that theory doesn't actually work in practise.
Posted:  22 Dec 2005 00:53
lol i was also kidding

In Nashville myself Tim.
Posted:  01 Feb 2006 17:21
General Zod lives in Nashville. Please don't take over TN. Metropolis is a better place to start your world domination.

Seriously though, I've been to Nashville a couple of times for comic conventions and checking out the comic book shops. Big place for a country boy like me to get around. Thank goodness my wife is good with maps.

I just saw some of those Superman Returns toys featured at the New York Toy Fair. (www.superherotimes.com)

...

They are... lacking... at best.

Although there will be a comic book version of Superman, Supergirl, Bizzaro and Doomsday released in the new Mattel DC line. They don't look too bad.
Posted:  14 Feb 2006 00:29
Anyone notice how ripped the paintings of Brandon Routh is compared to the actual guy?
Posted:  14 Feb 2006 03:07
Agreed, KalEl. It is a little much.

I just realized something. His trunks don't remind me of "panties" (as several people have stated in the past). They remind me of the high school's swim team speedo. As a matter of fact, it's even the same color.

Oh man. I just saw the Superman Returns toys at the Toys R Us where I work. I threw up a little in my mouth. Why are toys related to movies so bad?
Posted:  09 Apr 2006 20:22
I don't know I'm mainly into comic books. Toys are just fun to look at when your at Walmart killing time while the wife shops.
