SupermanTV.net Forum / Superman / Smallville / Smallville Spoilers / Allison Mack Talks About Powers

Posted:  23 Jun 2008 17:09
Allison Mack, who is returning as Chloe Sullivan for Season 8 of The CW's Smallville, said she is looking forward to the new-look season.

"I think we're going to have the opportunity to add some really awesome new characters that we've never seen before," Mack said earlier this week during a question-and-answer at the Superman Celebration in Metropolis, Ill. "We're going to explore a lot of things that are a little darker than we've ever seen before on the show."

Mack said she wants Chloe to understand her powers.

"You'll definitely see my powers develop in Season 8, absolutely," she said. "There's so many questions that have been unanswered as far what the powers are, how they work and how I can control them. So I think you'll start to see me really harness them and understand exactly what I can do, which I think will be really cool."

Mack said production of Season 8 begins next month in Vancouver.

God, I hate that it is going darker when I keep hoping for some lighter breaks like it "useta was" there should be some peaks with the pits for people like me to stay on.  Maybe that is why I was a Herkules viewer, Sorbo had some humor with the bone crunching.  I think Smallville was so dark it was "lights out" in Season 7 for me.  The first Season I didn't want to buy.  I am a humor addict, even in a Superhero venue. There are funny moments in life, dark as it may seem. Sit Clark on a whoopie cushion.I'll laugh!

That phantoms & Lex's mind were about as dark as a Superman story needs to get.  The only other thing I can think that could pass as darker about would be Darkseid or Doomsday storyline.  Seeing that we're getting the latter, I hope they know just how much darker they can make it w/o going overboard.

Dark or light, just tell me good stories...that's all I ask.

On the storytelling side of it, Clark will obviously be standing tall at the end of what we have to presume is the last season. To rise triumphant out of his darkest time does have a nice heroic aesthetic to it. Let's also not forget that a hero is defined by his enemies and struggles. The worse they face of those the better the hero becomes.

Dark's not such a bad place to visit......
