I was thinking since I read about the possible Superman Movie reboot how it start out, and I was thinking in keeping with Warner's idea that there should be more darkness, perhaps, start out with Metropolis as a extremely dark city like Gotham City. Make it real depressing, and then Superman makes his debut, and brings hope and his Smallville values, and soon the city makes a big turn around.

After all while Batman's progress in Gotham is hindered by Bat's lack of super speed, Superman can get a lot more done in shorter period of time. He could clean up the city faster while bring inspiration to the citizens of Metropolis. By the end of the movie Metropolis has turned into a shining city on a hill so to speak. Of course in between there has to be a villain of Doomsday like proportions.

You want a real reboot?

Give me the story of Krypton's last days on film.

Jor-El vs Zod. The plot that ends an entire civilization.

The last scene would be the spaceship launching Clark to Earth as Krypton shatters on collision with it's sun.

(of course I'd still like to see the Dark Knight Returns 3 part epic I mentioned in the Mark Millar thread, but this is strictly for the Superman reboot.)

Interesting . So far everything I've read people don't want to rehash Krypton exploding, but the way you describe it sounds cool.

You know the first half of Superman the Movie has always been my favorite. To me the first half is flawless even by today's standards from the Krypton sequence to Smallville.

I never got the same feeling or mood that Superman the Movie created in Superman Returns.

Even if there were someone on this planet who had never ever heard of Superman, we do not need another retelling of his origin story, at all, ever again, not even a mention of it, to tell a good story or make a good movie.

The stuff leading up to Krypton exploding probably wasn't a thought on anyone's minds when they think of a Superman movie-it's 'outside the box'. It's also not really my idea. I saw this book in Barnes and Noble's one day and I just never got around to picking it up.

Apparently it didn't get the greatest reviews, but I still believe it'd work on several levels if handled properly.
