personally i think brandon is WAY hotter than tom...i mean what's with tom's hair? he's ugly and that's all there is to it...brandon is perfect for the role so stop complaining

Seriously if you as for my comments then.... Tom welling deserves to be Superman rather than Routh.. Why.... Superman's physical description doesn't suite on Routh ... Superman is supposed to be broad and Welling is broad while Routh is not... Superman is supposed to be huge like 6 feet 4 which Welling is, and to make Routh 6 feet 4 they got Routh with high heel spice girls shoes and focused them in the begining on top of the aircraft... what a joke!!... The old Chris. Reeve Superman Suit was more original which should be brought back.... The only reason which i think Routh was chosen as Superman was he resembles Reeve as Clark Kent.... but i think we should get outta that Reeve frame as we won't get the best Superman as Reeve again and give chance to people who deserves it more... like Welling in my opinion Welling is a perfect choice for Superman and yes face wise Welling has the same comic broad jaw stucture which Routh doesn't have... Welling is phyically fit for the Super Suit but i think Routh needs more excersice to make him broad cause right now Routh looks like Coca Cola bottle in that dress.... thin from top broad from hips and again with hocky style thin legs.

I am totally not against Routh he is a fine and handsome person but not fit for Superman..... Plus I agree the movie was busted due to the week story and plot.... plus there are many flaws like... Superman who is vunerable to Kryptonite should've been fallen down when entered that Luthor's Kryptonite Island rather than landing properply and finding it out later that he is powerless when Luthor hits him.... Plus how can Supermsn lift that Kryptonite island as we all know and have seen in the old Superman and in Smallville that how vunerable he is to Kryptonite that he can't even move or stand in front of it.... How come Lois Lane's child possesed Super powers cause when Superman and Loius had sex in Superman-II ; Superman gave up all his powers to get her..... though it was temperory change but at that moment Superman was powerless..... And most of all the the mom doesn't know who's child was Jason until be pushed the piano away was a total crap.... And I must say Superman Returns was Actually an altered Superman-I from Chris. Reeve era.
Posted:  29 Jun 2007 10:38
Tom Welling is the only one deserves that role for Superman after Chis. Reeve... Thumbs Up!!!!...... Question is when all the world wanna see Tom welling as Superman then WHY Waner Bros. trying to put ROUTH as Superman again in the sequal..... I have given a thousand reasons for Welling to be Superman and for Routh Not to be..... Plus I must say people are sick of watching a same villian (Lex Luthor) in Superman movies things should be different now..... Bring DOOMSDAY or any other villain.... BUT AGAIN THUMBS UP FOR TOM WELLING.... IS THERE ANY WAY FOR THESE COMMENTS TO BE POSTED TO WARNER BROS..... IF ANYONE KNOWS KINDLY TELL ME... I REALLY WANNA SEE TOM WELLING AS SUPERMAN IN THE NEXT MOVIE... AND PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD SUPERMAN COSTUME WHICH SEEM MORE ORIGINAL....

Singer's Superman failed on many levels. In spite of Singer's claim that he was not making a "gay" Superman film, the very first thing he did was green light a Superman costume that is little more than a gay man's sexual fantasy and vision of Superman. Singer couldn't help himself. He just had to do it.
The costume is an insult to what has been as Iconic in symbolism as the American flag itself. Singer reduced it to a sexual fantasy.

So, I've been thinking about all these internet rumors.(Tom Welling in the Justice League, etc.)

I used to keep and maintain an adult oriented cartoon site of my own. I don't anymore. (I quit it for personal reasons. Life's tragedies always has a way of having side effects like that.)

It remains up to this day and sees heavy traffic in spite of the fact I haven't updated it in years.
I don't make that statement as any kind of "brag". The point is I got mail. Tons of it. Fan mail.

For a short time I was involved with another site (that shall remain nameless). I dealt with the "webmaster" on a personal basis.
(I hate that term "webmaster". It attaches importance to something that, unless it's actually involved in saving human life, doesn't mean ****.

So I'm in personal contact with this guy on a level his website visitors will never attain, and I get to know what kind of person he really is. I say to myself, "screw this", and I walk away. I do have a sense of ethics.

But I was amazed at the credence and support the visitors to his website gave him. Placing the guy and his opinions on a pedestal. If they knew him like I did, they would be looking for a rope and the highest tree. All they knew was the image he projected.

He nurtured their support and semi-idolization, but with a fake, self depreciating spin.
I could only shake my head.

With these expressed thoughts and experiences in mind, applying them to the Justice League film rumors, and Tom Welling, etc. and etc., I look at the internet and see this same behavior repeated on a sweepingly wide scale by guys who call themselves "webmasters" as if it were a royal title, and their website their kingdom and realm.
(If they actually DO see themselves this way, I imagine their sperm count is zero. Pimples the size of warts.)

I side with S.S.S (Singer's Superman Sucks website) about the Superman issue and Singer because the guy's right. The film was a gay fest of subtext and imagery intermingled with deity themes.

Take away the special effects, the hail of bullets bouncing off the chest, the eye, the plane saving sequence. Take all of that eye candy away, and all you're left with is something that has nothing to do with Superman, and a character who has none of the personal traits and integrity of Superman.
What you have is what Bryan Singer wanted people to see, and it wasn't Superman, only a shadow of the character with disturbing character traits.

Personally, I think Warner is fully aware that there is a major problem with Singer's handling of the character. I don't know how it's going to play out.
I think people like Steve Younis and Robert Sanchez have their own interests and egos at heart. I don't think either of them know Manure from shinola., but they have to keep their followers hanging on their decrees, (with a disclaimer of course.)

People should stop putting bottom feeders like Younis and Sanchez on pedestals.

One thing I can say about S.S.S.(Of Singer's Superman Sucks- http://singerssupermansucks.blogspot.com/                  )
He's not playing those kinds of self deluded games of Godhood, who knows all and sees all. He doesn't have that attitude over keeping a damned website.

He just wants a decent Superman film, and Singer gone. I support him 100% for that.

And I'll be Damned, S.S.S. hasn't once tried to sell me an action figure, imagine that.

So getting back to Welling and the JLA..Rumors are nothing more than just that. I got caught up in it at first. Welling would make a great Superman. Routh is a skinny guy in a padded suit. (That's a fact. research Super Hero Hype, and you'll get the low down about the suit.)

I'd love to see Welling in a REAL Superman costume, and not that gay man tease outfit Singer foisted on us.
But until Warner gives us official word, none of us know anything for sure, except that the JLA film is definitely on the front burner, while the Singerman sequel has been put on hold.
I've got my fingers crossed, and I'm hoping a Welling Superman in the JLA film will make Singer's Superman disappear like a bad dream.

Gee when you put it that way, I'm creeped out about the Superman Returns movie. I doubt anybody here would argue that Tom Welling would make a great Superman in a JLA movie.

You know, it's funny. I used to NOT LIKE Smallville because of the continuity issues, AND the OVERLY done soap opera between Clark and Lana.
(Which I still feel has been done to DEATH. It's almost like watching a macabre, tortuous version of 90210 or Dawson's Creek on steroids.)

But in regards to the continuity issues, I'm understanding better now that the producer and writers for the show have been, (since the series conception) creating a whole new continuity for the Superman Myth.
Even so, they've dug themselves into some pretty deep holes in that regard.
Welling as Clark has done a lot of "super" stuff "covertly" in public, enough so that even the village idiot would have to be looking at him with a cocked eye.
He's done this stuff around Perry White, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen..To the degree that if you go along with the continuity these writers nave established, by the time he goes to work at the Daily Planet, these people would have to be full on retarded not to know that Clark is Superman.(When he makes his debut as such.)
Donning a pair of glasses as a disguise has never been a really believable concept, but it IS the hallmark of the Superman mythology and the dual personalities of Clark Kent/Superman.
With the way this show has progressed plot wise, donning a pair of glasses as part of a disguise when Clark moves to Metropolis would be an idiotic move.
Perry White, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, ALL know what Clark looks like without them, and Clark's facial features are pretty well set as far as being adult goes.
Who's he going to fool? Spinning the Earth in reverse ala the Reeve film to erase everyone's memories of the Smallville years won't cut it this time.

Having said all that, pointing out the problems with the show, I also have to say in turn as drama  and inter-personal relationship tension goes, Smallville is written much better than Superman Returns.
Lex Luthor on Smallville isn't the idiotic joke that he is in Returns. Smallville's Luthor is developing into a very sinister and scary fella, as he should be.
Lex Luthor should ALWAYS (in my mind) represent everything Superman isn't.
In Star Wars vernacular, he succumbs to the Darkside, and fully embraces it.
I don't think anything abut Luthor should be given a sympathetic spin to the audience. His decent into evil should be a choice he embraces and pursues purely out of a false sense of purpose.
Sometimes people who believe they do what they do for a higher purpose can be the most evil of all.

I never was an advocate for Welling as Superman in a theatrical film. I've done a complete 180 on that position since the release of Returns, and seeing Routh in the role.
Welling I hope, WILL get offered the part of Superman in the JLA film, and I pray he accepts.
I also pray they put him in a decent Superman costume instead of that gay fetish suit Singer came up with.
Welling has PROVED he can act, he has some muscle on him. (Routh's was rubber padding).
I think if anyone can rejuvenate Superman on film, Welling can.
Routh isn't that much as an actor, and if you've noticed, there's no demand for him. The same can't be said of Bale (Batman Begins), who like Welling, can act, and does it extremely well.
We can only wait and see what Warner does. I think if they continue with Singer and Routh, even if the sequel is "Wrath of Khan-ed", the franchise will always carry the "gay Superman" stigma with Routh in that fetish suit.
That costume needs to be trashed.

Glad you like Smallville now. It is a great show even with continuity issues, and Lex is the perfect villain on the show. He's seems like a real person you hate to see turn evil.

The direct story from Variety.

The JLA is OFFICIALLY on the move, and director George Miller is signed. Superman sequel on back burner.

I hope this pushes Singer out the door

Found this, it's fan made crossing a old TV show called Invasion with Supes returns, but dang it would look good.

Tom Wellins may want to move on with his career, but I really think that he can and should be the next superman. I also think that other s should stop putting there own ideas out of who is and who isn't going to play superman. If they wanted Tom Wellings to play superman they would have him play superman. Brain Singer didn't use Tom Welling just for that reason, that is already to well known and that viewers want go to see the movie for superman, but to see Tomm Wellings. But I have been looking into some real reliable sources that they will use him to play in the 2011 Justice League Maybe.

An unknown was chosen so you were hopefully paying attention to the character instead of the actor.

Worked out well for Christopher Reeve....
