I think Smallville's in trouble.
Could "Actor Availability" Stop Season 9 From Happening?
The December 8, 2008 "What The Keck" column in TV Guide magazine features an interview with one of Smallville's executive producers, Darren Swimmer, where he reveals that "actor availability" might keep get in the way of a ninth season next year, despite successful ratings for the show.
The article also confirms a spoiler for an upcoming episode and reveals some of what will be coming later in the season.

Surely he want quit. It didn't work out so well for Rosenbaum so far. I think when an actor quits a tv show he just hurts himself because he ends up out of the spotlight. I think they get more roles if they keep working on TV. __________________

Conversely, If he leaves on a high note, he can draw better work, at least in theory. If he rides this show into the ground, his jacket would then read 'meteoric' rise and fall, (pardon the pun) and would actually hurt his working again. Considering our financial woes in the US here possibly limiting what could be done on a show of this type, and the clash between 'free' TV and other forms of entertainment, the writers and producers should wrap it up as neatly as possible to ensure their own survival and he should be looking for his next contract immediately. __________________Beneath this mask is more than flesh. I agree that he should be hard at work finding movie scripts. He needs a big movie. I think he'd be wise to pursue the next Superman film. I know he don't want to be typecast, but you know there are lots and lots of actors you never hear from after a hit series dies. So he should be thankful to get a multi million dollar contract as Superman. The odds of him finding other work other than TV are against him. I don't think he's made a movie since the last Cheaper by the Dozen.
And I'm definitely not saying he's not a great actor just that there's a lot of competition out there in hollywood, and they seem to operate on the buddy system. __________________

Mrs Gellar is still working. I just saw a movie with her called 'The Air I Breathe' which was pretty good, albeit a bit depressing. She also did the Grudge, Scooby movies, Scream, and the very excellent Cruel Intentions. I'd say she also still has a legion of Buffy fans who would run to a film with that character without the slightest pause.
No picking on Buffy....she'll kick your butt __________________Beneath this mask is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea Mr Creedy and ideas are bulletproof.

The only ones I saw were the Scooby Doo movies. I love those movies. Those are the kind of moves DVDs were made for. __________________

I guess it would have been alright if Tom Welling and Michael Rosenblum NEVER worked another day. They probably could have lived off residuals and re-runs the rest of their lives--but now---with millions losing their life savings in the stock market they might have lost too if that was what they did with their money. Let us hope not.
If they saved and used it to make more $$$$, that and the re-runs should hold up well for them. They and Smallville are popular in countries all over the world. And many have not seen 8 seasons of Smallville--so probably they can go on many years turning up in many more countries. I'll bet they have plenty of cash hunkered down somehow. They are both bright and I'll bet anything saved for "a rainy day"--lesson learned from the writers strike last year.
As for being cast in top flicks after the demise of Smallville---I think, very "iffy"

They have to play the game like everyone else, and they have the same chances as everyone else. __________________Beneath this mask is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea Mr Creedy and ideas are bulletproof.

Quote: Maybe Dark Knight will change your mind next week I see me watching Dark Knight maybe once a year or so. For one you have to have a while because it's a long movie and two it's a cool movie but it's not exactly a feel good movie and we manic depressives as myself need funny stuff to keep it going.

I don't really have an urge to see Dark Knight at all. I get too depressed also. There has to be a light moment periodically in what I choose to watch.
Right now, keeping jobs seems a major concern. I think about now, Michael R. is kicking himself! If ya got a job, ya better keep it!

In case you were wondering, here's his entry at IMDB:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0742146/
Since leaving the show he has voiced a chracter in a Dragonlance animated feature, which I've seen and wasn't too thrilled with. It wasn't horrible, but if you're not a fan of D&D already, you might lose attention quickly.
The item called Dark Sector is a video game he's leant his voice to.
The one called PG Porn I'm a little wary of. Aparently it's adult oriented cartoons featuring the Peanuts chracters as adults, and will be on SpikeTV. Considering his sense of humor that we only got to see bits of here and there, this could go either way.
One film he did a few years back which I highly reccomend if you haven't seen is 'Poolhall Junkies'. Great cast including Mr Rosenbaum and is just like 'Rounders' on green felt. There's a scene where his character is playing guitar and it looked to me like that could have actually been him playing, if tht sort of thing matters to you. Great great movie. __________________Beneath this mask is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea Mr Creedy and ideas are bulletproof.

Yes, I liked "Poolhall Junkies" M.R. was very good in it.
I have checked the M.R. accomplishments list when Tim put it up last week and went over to the "PGporn" part . The whole concept of that cartoon show for adults seems to be one ongoing 4 letter expletive and it seems totally beneath him. It is disappointing He has got to be desperate, and demoralized doing it after where he has been and what he has done (fine acting in a successful series) The "porn" show idea is for the type of viewing mentality of the masses, I guess. I am sure a lot of people will watch and even some here for the M.R. aspect--I'll pass--- and keep the faith that he will return to Smallville.
One show that I was anxious to see was the Geiko Cavemen, and it bombed. I had a different concept--and i thought that was what they would be going for. I thought, it funny to have them "serious" like they were in the ads--not slapsticky. The ads were FUNNY, but the show sucked. I felt normal every day situations and the cave guys just chillin' would be funnier.
Hey! They could have done something with M.R. in a comedy series other than classless porn parody.
Come on! Quite a jump from a GP Family show to GP PORN!

Well this sucks, but like I said if they would just stick to the uperman story they wouldn't be having this problem. Granted they have done a lot of the uperman story so far, but they need to stay on task. I hope there is a season 9. If they do it, then stay on track and finish it The Way It Should Be. Hopefully they convince Tom Welling for one more. __________________

Hey I have a question, why isn't there an episode guide yet for season 8? I was trying to look up something and I couldn't find one? __________________

My bad. I was going to do it all at once instead of a little at a time. I'll try and get it done soon. __________________
