I normally post these type of vids over on Tim's political site, but with the number of comic fans and people that actually create comics themselves, it seemed much more appropriate here. The vid title is also the name of his book, which I give the highest praise to if you really want to get down to the 'mechanics' of how comics work and basically 'do what they do'.
From TEDTalks on YouTube:
Quote: In this unmissable look at the magic of comics, Scott McCloud bends the presentation format into a cartoon-like experience, where colorful diversions whiz through childhood fascinations and imagined futures that our eyes can hear and touch.

Interesting but I would have wished he focused on other aspects of comics besides the infinite canvas.
More like information of presenting characterization and basic story telling as we know it in an average comic. __________________
Those things are covered much better in his book. I guarantee if you read it you'll not only look at and probably appreciate your comics more, you'll be going back over old issues and re-examining them as well not to mention revisiting your own work with a fresh perspective. It really is something of a full scale education on the whole medium of comics(just not as rigid or stuffy or intense as a college course). __________________

I probably need a class on creating comics. Be nice if I had time to read his book. __________________
