I don't know if anyone else remembers the anit-smoking campaign from the seventies where Superman thwarted the villian Nick-o-teen. There was even a club you could join. In the memebership pack was a badge, a comic and a certificate.

Sounds cool, don't remember that one specifically, but I've seen a few Superman public service ads in my old 70's comics. __________________
Another one I came across was a few years ago, when I used to purchase the Impulse comic, there was a free Superman comic with it. The comic handled the issue of cruelty to animals.
