Smallville may get a new timeslot this fall.  Check it out.

'Melrose Place' and '90210' to air back-to-back this fall

The CW will announce tomorrow that it is airing the reboot of Melrose Place after 90210 on Tuesday nights next season, sources confirm. If this is causing a case of deja vu, here's why: The original Melrose was unveiled in the time slot following Beverly Hills, 90210 way back in 1992. The network will also move Smallville from Thursday to Friday this fall to make room for the new drama Vampire Diaries.

The CW may be the latest network to make a bold move on Thursday.

After days of rumblings, the CW is said to have settled on launching the hot new drama "Vampire Diaries" Thursday 8 p.m., paired with "Supernatural." "Vampire Diaries" would replace the staple in the time slot, departing veteran "Smallville," whose final ninth season would air on Friday, probably at 8 p.m.

That's not good to put Smallville out there by itself on Fridays especially.

Here's the CW's fall schedule:

Monday - 8 p.m., "Gossip Girl"; 9 p.m., "One Tree Hill"

Tuesday - 8 p.m., "90210"; 9 p.m., "Melrose Place" (new drama)

Wednesday - 8 p.m., "America's Next Top Model"; 9 p.m., "The Beautiful Life"

Thursday - 8 p.m., "Vampire Diaries" (new drama); 9 p.m., "Supernatural"

Friday - 8 p.m., "Smallville"; 9 p.m., "America's Next Top Model" (repeats)

They don't have very many shows, and at this point I bet I'll be only watching like 3 of their shows next season. They need another superhero show like Aquaman. Something sci-fi. Good sci-fi. Not all this soap opera junk like Melrose and top model stuff.

there's rumors that Welling is on for a 10th, right now it's up in the air.

If I was Welling I'd milk it for all it's worth just in case his career doesn't keep going after Smallville. Hope he didn't blow all his money, but I have a feeling John Schneider set him straight on all of that. Probably why Welling has stayed on this long. He doesn't want to take a chance on losing a good living.

A 10TH SEASON WOULD BE AWESOME, GET OVER 200 EPISODES OF SMALLVILLE SO COOL. THEY CAN DO IT TOO, THEY HAVE JUST GOT TO STICK TO THE UPERMAN STORY.
