Superman Returns star Brandon Routh recently told Omelete (via ThinkMcFlyThink.com) that his contract to star in a sequel has expired, but that if they were to call again, he would go back to the character without thinking twice. Other than that, Routh said he does not know anything about the status of the possible project.

They should keep him as Superman in any upcoming movie but they probably won't. Since it'll most likely be a complete reboot and they won't want any reminders about how...not quite up to expectations, the last one was.
