SupermanTV.net Forum / Superman / General Discussion / What got you into Superman?

Hi gang, I didnt find a general Superman forum so I thought I could ask this here.

What got you into Superman in the first place - the comics, the cartoons, the movies or TV?

For me, it was always the Reeve movies that mattered, as the comics have been in limited publication where I live (Scandinavia). I think how you get into the franchise matters in terms of what you like and what you use/read/enjoy. I, for example, always compere any other Superman to Reeve's version.

Hard to tell exactly, but I remember getting my first comics collection from my Grandma's trash can. Of course before that I watched the Super Friends so I guess the Super Friends must have been the first time I saw Superman.

Christopher Reeve's movie though like made me really love the character. The first time I saw Superman the movie was the most exciting movie I had ever saw up that point.

I'm on a very similar timeline as Tim there- the various incarnations of the Super Friends were the earliest exposure. When the Donner films came out, my dad rushed us to the theatre for each(leaving mom at home both times).

Well uperman is the Great American Icon of comics and in T.V. and Movies no matter what generation you come from. In Germany where I was born, my family was into the American Comic Books, so I got my first American Comic book from a family who lived over here and of course that Comic book was of uperman, then the family told me about all these movies and T.V. shows about the
uper hero and I got addicted. Then mallville came around and I just enjoyed the show every week. Then I moved here to America and found out how HUGE uperman truly is. I was sad the day Christopher Reeve died. He was my favorite uperman. Basically uperman is one of the reasons I decided to move here to America, because he stands for what all of you Americans do. Plus my girl really got me into her collection of uperman and we both enjoy watching mallville and all the older stuff of uperman. She has alot of the old cartoons and animated series. She also has Lois and Clark, the George Reeves uperman, and is getting much more as time with me is progressing. So basically I got my start with a cool family who passed their love of uperman down to me in Germany.

I was 5 during the airing of the Superfriends cartoon on TV.  That's what got me into Supes.  Afterwards was the original animated series for both Superman and Batman.  Then came the movies when I was older and the all the new cartoons, movies, and comics now.
