Aerolectric, are you sure about that because I thought it was much further east and I can't ever remember reading an exact state that it was in. I know for a fact that Smallville is the first movie, tv show, comic, novel or superman story ever to have Smallville amd Metroplis both in Kansas. Tim, you might be able to clarify this for us but didn't Lois and Clark have Metroplis somewhere on the eastern seaboard, like New Hampshire or Connecticut.

It's always been my understanding that Metropolis is DC Comics version of New York City. Seems like I read that from a comic book writer or editors commentary.

Also if memory serves me right when Spiderman and Superman teamed up together back in the 70's for that particular book it was revealed that New York and Metropolis were right next to each other. I could be wrong about that, but that's what I remember anyway.

I've always been a little confused on the decision to have Metropolis in Kansas on Smallville. That might actually be the only thing I wish was different on the show. Kansas just doesn't have a city as big as New York after all.

well if metropolis is visible from smallville it must be in kansas or on the border of some neighboring state! duh!!

hmm... ya know, on second thought it might have been NY but i'm pretty sure it was Kansas

aerolectric r u brain dead u cant see the empire state building from smallville(if there was a smallville or is there)) so what makes u think that metroplis is in new york it has to be in kansas or near there.

i agree with aliaschloe

tim is right.  metropolis is not originally in or anywhere near kansas but in the WB Smallville universe that is what we get, just pretend that kansas is not a landlocked state and that metropolis is really close by.  in superman the movie and the comic series, smallville is very very far away from metropolis which is an eastcoast city like new york or batman's gotham city.

Hey, I didn't know anything for sure i was just taking a guess, as i had said, "...but i'm pretty sure it was Kansas "

y are we making this all complicated? it's just in kansas!

To clarify, it is in Kansas on Smallville, but it has not been in any of the other movies,TV, or comic books in Kansas in the past.

Reminds me the Statue of Liberty seems to be present in Metropolis on the Christopher Reeve movies doesn't it?

Well Metropolis and Gotham city has always been set as NYC, as in the comic books it is never really told where Metropolis and Gotham city are truely at.( old Superman/Batman tv shows and Movies) Tho I remeber reading a old Superman Comic when Superman met up with Batman and it stated Superman flew half way thru the US to get to Gotham from Metropolis. So it really never been clear where these cities are really at. LOL

as tim said it changes through the times with the writers, but it is certain that metropolis has always been a coastal city, east coast for sure, and is similar to new york.
