Toyman returns in this one. See how it goes down with the official description for 'Echo'.
The CW's Official Description For "Echo"
THE TOYMAN RETURNS AND TAKES OLIVER HOSTAGE — Tess (Cassidy Freeman) forces Oliver (Justin Hartley) to come to a Queen Industries gala to put the Board at ease, but things go awry when the Toyman (guest star Chris Gautheir) shows up with a bomb and a plan to take revenge on Oliver. The Toyman tells Oliver he must confess to murdering Lex or he will blow the place up. Meanwhile, as part of his training, Jor-El gives Clark (Tom Welling) the ability to hear other people’s thoughts. Allison Mack and Erica Durance also star. Wayne Rose directed the episode written by Bryan Q. Miller (#3X5254).
What is the Toyman's obsession with taking Oliver's life good grief. And Why is he ALWAYS fat? I' am interested to see Clark hearing people's thoughts, I didn't know uperman had that ability sometimes. But it's defiantly really cool. I can't wait to see how this one turns out. __________________

I think I understand it now, but my girl pointed out to me that the Toyman actor has been on Smallville before, just not with that identity or at least she doesn't think so. I think she is right, but just to be sure, she asked if anyone else thinks she is right as well. She says he is in Season 3 Episode 11 Delete, as the computer geek. __________________

So Lois, for the first time, realizes Clark has big muscles and is hot??? WHAT! She lived with him at the Kent farm for heaven's sake and saw him in all kinds of situations. I guess she really never "saw" him in this new light.
I thought it was hilarious when she said, upon handling his bicep, (in her mind) "Hello Sailor"(!!) and observed a few minutes later he "is hot"==Glad he heard that--maybe now we'll see the start of something big. I was thinking mayhe he'd better go over to EHARMONY pretty quick.

I was thinking maybe she was thinking those things all the time, but we just couldn't hear her thoughts before. __________________
Maybe the "he's hot" part--but I don't think the "Hello Sailor" part-- that sounded like a "surprize" to me--but you could certainly be right. It would be near impossible for a woman with any hormones left in her body not to see Clark as a hunk a hunk of burnin' love .

Hey all, won't be on as much, laptop exploded (power supply fried computer circutry) I'm typing this on my iPhone but it's difficult.
Wanted to say though I loved this episode. Definately a one. He plas around with Lois, catches the bad guy, and helps Oliver at the same time. Only part that's concerning is his friendship with chole seems to be dwindling. __________________

I really enjoyed the episode . My girl was glad she was right. Now she is curious to know if it is the same character just not yet Toyman as we Now know him. I really liked it when he kept on reading Lois's mind just to know what she was thinking. I hope Jor-El gives him that power again sometime. __________________

Me too! Maybe that power to read thoughts will be available to him. If he can see thru clothing, walls etc--I think he should see thru heads and know what is going thru other people's minds. I thik it could boost the story possibilities. Like, what the heck IS going thru Green Arrows mind right now anyway.

Being a mind reader is overkill. Oliver is going through the same thing anyone else would be going through if they had been making the same mistakes he had. __________________

I missed almost ALL of last season, I have no idea in hell what he did! No wonder I don't "get" his actions now, right?
I think I missed a few at the beginning of this season too.
Anybody want to clue me what he freakin did? Cool!
Thanks Tim! Do you know if his bad deed is in one episode and you might know the name of that--OR did he do something that carried over as multiple no-nos in several episodes. I'd buy the Season but right now I am soooo broke.
I supposed he killed somebody or blew up something and now regrets it. (Calling Dr.Phil!

We got a peek at chinks in the armor when he starting using that potion to heal from his heroic exploits, and his histories with Lex and Tess.
We got a first glimpse of him going south right before he ran into Lana which was right after he beheaded a mannequin he thought was Lex, which led up to him later using one of Toyman's explosives to kill Lex on purpose.
The other thing is somewhat of a mystery to me but somehow Clark and Oliver both apparently blame themselves for what happened to Jimmy. Maybe someone can explain that better who gets it better?
His relationships are empty failures, his league seems to have fallen apart, his drinking has been picking up right along with feeling sorry for himself, and most recently he failed at the simple task of keeping Lois awake so she didn't turn into a zombie. His corporate identity doesn't seem to be faring much better either, though we don't see a terrible amount of it.
Ollie is PRIME for a rebirth story at this point and we should see his returning toward hero status with his new sidekick arriving. If they follow more of the comics he still has his relationship with Black Canary to explore, a career in politics and returning from actually being dead to look forward to(amongst other things another comic fan might know better of?). __________________

I don't know why Ollie blames himself for Jimmy's death other than it's part of being a hero, taking responsibility for everything. He did warn Clark that old Doomsday's alter ego was no good and had to be dealt with.
I'm guessing Ollie's problems have to stem from feeling like he killed Lex Luthor which is always a definite no no on the superhero code. Probably wrestling with his moral code about killing bad guys and all. I bet after it's over and he's back to normal, his code will be more like Batman's. You know the never take a life bit even if it's the Joker and he's killed everyone you love scenario. __________________
