Um Capone, was there anything in particular about Dean that you didn't like when he played superman? I know that you have I right to your opinion but I am curious because I think that he is second to Chris in the role. He didn't play the role like Chris did because his Clark wasn't quite as much of a nerdy, weak character, a bit more of a modern version of the way George played Clark. I mean he had his vulnerabilities but still had a particular good-hearted strength about him.

well hes right you shouldn't jugde a book by his cover

It wasn't just Cain i didn't like, it was the whole show. From the actors right down to the storylines it
was more like a comedy.
Basically it did not adhere to the superman mythology
one bit, i mean superman and lois getting married ?
come on ! Whatever happened to "Never set one above the rest".. Now on the other hand smallville is great, thats why im on this message board and not the lois & clark one lol

To kenn5, what do you mean that we shouldn't judge a book by his cover?
To Capone, you didn't like any of it, ok, that is fair enough but Lois and Clark got married in the comics around the same time. I couldn't tell you if the show inspired the comic or the other way around. It was very comic-booky but the show never took itself too seriously which why I liked it better than the Superboy series or Smallville. All the movies and shows are fanasty base on comic book characters that have been brought to life so they should never too serious in their appraoch to the storylines which is where Superboy and Smallville let themselves down. The make jokes about some things but they also tried to make the shows as believable as possible where as Lois and Clark were constantly trying to make the show as light as they could. They even made jokes about the fact that they were a tv show to help with the whole concept of not being taken too seriously. Maybe you should watch some of the episodes again in that frame of mind and just enjoy some light-hearted fanasty because at the end of the day that is all they are, be it the superman movies, superboy, Lois & Clark or Smallville.

Yes well Capone it just seemed like you were looking at the series a little too seriously. I mean the bottom line is it was superman done differently from what we had all come to expect and the title should have been your biggest clue as to what kind of series it was going to be. Think about it, Lois And Clark, The New Adventures of Superman sounded like it was going to have a softer edge to it than the movies or any other superman stuff done before it.

Agreed what was great about Lois & Clark was that Dean Cain played Clark Kent as more of a serious character.  Chris Reeve (God rest his soul) did an admirable job of playing Superman, but his Clark Kent was a portral of a goof-ball that could barely walk.  It was great to see the role of Clark portrayed in a stronger role.  That is what you see in Smallville, Clark isn't portrayed as a bumbling-idiot, but as a serious character.

You are entitled to your opinion kenn5 but, in my opinion, the closest the movies ever got to showing Clark as a strong person was in Superman 3 when he was at his high school reunion rekindling his romantic feelings for Lana. Whereas Lois & Clark and now Smallville have the character of Clark Kent being a positive, independent personality away from his superman persona. Think about all three Clark Kents from the point of view of that type of personality.

Hey guys...I'm kinda new here so bear with me.  The reason Dean Cain was (in my opinion) wrong for the role is because he looks too ethnic.  Superman is as WHITE BREAD as they come.  Now don't get me wrong, I'm not an idiotic skinhead or anything but Superman shouldn't look like he grew up in Hawaii.  I am doomed to compare everyone to the incomparable Chris Reeve.
