I think that Pete should come back on the show for good. I know that he made an appearance in episode 'Spirit', but it would be better if it was permanent. If you disagree tell me.

i think pete should stay buried, sometimes after the course of a show a character kinda loses its appeal. pete kinda got annoying for me, but ya...clark really needs a guy friend now that lex is out..what can i say, clark is a ladies' man!

Well if what the rumors say is true, that the new Supes film will have some elements of Smallville included as well as fit into the mythology of the first two movies then it has to be Pa Kent that bites the big one. Technically the new movie is gonna be considered Superman 3 as if the other 3 and 4 never happened. So Pa has to die to stay true to the first movie.

You might be right, but I really hope Pa doesn't die.
There are some monumental differences between the Superman movies and Smallville already.
Going back to Superman the movie, Clark grows up in the 1950's era not today. I've always wondered what Smallville would have been like if they had went back a few years say to the 1980's where the current Superman might have grown up in.
Metropolis is not in Kansas.
Lex Luthor doesn't know who Clark Kent is.
Lex on the movie is more of a evil genius than business tycoon.
Clark Kent never had sex with Lana Lane
Clark was more of an outsider in the movie.
Clark's parents were much older.
Clark is Superman before running into kryptonite.
There were no meteor freaks.
Well you get the idea. I believe there are enough differences already that letting Pa Kent live surely can't hurt the movie, right. __________________

yeah I'm not complaining.
What do you think about Smallville if it had been based in the current Superman's past like late 80's early 1990's? I wonder how that would have worked out? The first episodes of Smallville made me feel nostalgic for the 80's even though it wasn't happening in the 1980's. __________________

I do too, but at the same time I think it might have been cool if it was done properly. Seems to me though people aren't as nostalgic for the 80's the way previous generations were nostalgic. Like the nostalgia for the 1950's back in the 1970's. Remember the Happy Days and American Graffiti craze.
Maybe Smallville could have been a 1980's Wonder Years. The adult Clark Kent could have been the narrator. If anybody is thinking I'm on drugs at this point. No I'm just using my imagination. __________________

yeah those are some good points, yet without all of the areas that you stated Tim there wouldn't be a show for smallville. and if they accuallt placed it back in the 50's then all we would have is another "That 70's Show". As funny as that show is I don't think people would want another show like that. Plus the fact that they are using new technology in the show itself makes for a nice show every week. I am with you that they didn't follow for the most part what accually happened, yet they couldn't do a show without it. I mean if that was the case then Clark would never ever get hurt or anything.
Hey I like it.

I like the show being in the present. I just wonder what would it have been like if it were in the past assuming that in the present Clark is Superman not living in Smallville.
I think it could have been wonderful in the past as well, but it would have had to have a different tone than it does now. Maybe a little wonder years and waltons feel thrown in the mix not that it doesn't have a family feeling. __________________

I think Pete should make at least one guest apperence, to show how he is doing. Also so he knows that now he isn't the only one who knows Clark's secret anymore. That he is no longer alone in knowing it. He was a cool character .
