Somthing tells me if he was actually around Superman wouldn't let Bush and Dick drive the US into the ground in front of the world.

I don't think your being very fair to George, bud. It takes a Superman to be President in today's critical world. You couldn't pay me enough to be President or anything else political.

Good link by the way, I hadn't heard of the Shuster Awards or if I did I forgot. Superman's creators never really got the recognition or money they deserved I don't think.

I like the article it was very interesting to read about Joe growing up in Canada and then moving to the USA. I wonder if he and Jerry ever thought that they were creating such an iconic fictional legend back when they started. I wonder what that they would have thought about the new movie especially the special effects with regards to the way they get him to use his powers. I mean don't get me wrong I loved the original ones but with what they were getting him to do in the new one it is much more spectacular than what they could do 25 years ago.

You know I have a feeling I will enjoy Superman Returns more the second time I see it for some reason. It was really good artistically speaking. Good effects and put together well for the most part, but like I said before it would have made a killing if they would have done the obvious which is make a killer super powered fight scene in the middle of Metropolis and added a lot of feel good we love America and apple pie moments.

Just think when Superman the movie came out America was downright miserable over gas prices and the Jimmy Carter administration (no offense to Jimmy but that's the way it was back then). America was depressed but Americans still loved America and they were just waiting for something to make them feel good about America again. In came Superman the movie which was and is a perfect example of pure Americana thanks mainly to the beautiful Smallville scenes and of course Christopher Reeve sticking to the old truth, justice, and the American way slogan. New movie box office records were broken.

So nobody can tell me that because half of the population is not happy with the current administration that somehow we Americans would not respond with great joy to a good old fashioned flag waver. A movie is not political, but it can help us relate to the best in us, the love of our country, and the love of freedom and democracy we as Americans all share. I think even foreign markets relate to love of country and love of freedom and democracy even if they don't relate to all of our politics.

Sorry I got off the subject a little bit I guess. I figured I better get it off my chest. Now I feel better.

The majority of the movie was filmed at pinewood studios in England and half the cast were British lol

Yeah I know but you know everybody in America is originally from somewhere else and probably over half of our ancestors came from England anyway, so no biggie.
