I can't wait to see it. They'll probably have all those things as cliffhangers and leave us in the middle of the battle between the Clarks. __________________

Quote: good job. poor lana. but of course, we probably never actually see a body so... Yup, you would infer from the teaser for the finale that Lana is the one that is going to "die". Again, this is Smallville, and you cannot tell if anyone is really "dead". You gotta love these classic cliffhanger season finales!! __________________The Bible is so powerful. Last minute goodies.
'SMALLVILLE'S' AL GOUGH SAYS DEATH IS IN THE AIR FOR THE SEASON 6 FINALE
The executive producer also teases about Season 7 and hints that more D.C. comics characters will be on their way
The stench of death is in the air. From the four networks announcing which shows made to cut to which one’s were given the ax, to the plethora of returning shows cleaning house and offing major characters during their season finales, the funeral processions are fast and furious.
And according to SMALLVILLE co-creator Alfred Gough, CW’s superhero drama is no different, promising not only one death, but maybe even more.
As the series has soared to new the past two seasons, the CW’s SMALLVILLE continues to build on the Superman mythology while also finding great new ways of bringing other elements of the D.C. universe into the series.
Gough took time to talk to iF about the Season Six finale airing Thursday night at 8:00 p.m. EST and what to expect for next year – proving that there’s room for more than one quality superhero show on network television.
iF MAGAZINE: We’re coming up on the end of the sixth season now, and it’s been six years of surprising twists and turns. Has the series turned out the way you’d originally envisioned it? And have any developments taken you by surprise, pleasantly or unpleasantly?
ALFRED GOUGH: You never know if any show is going to be a hit or not, and even if it is, how long it will last. The fact that we are still on the air is a pleasant surprise because it means that we are still telling relevant stories and expanding our universe and our characters. I think the most pleasant surprise is that [co-creator] Miles [Millar] and I believe our show has been stronger in these later seasons once we got them all out of high school. That really opened it up in a way that we weren't expecting.
iF: Recently in Paris, you said that Tom Welling has been signed with the show through an 8th season – does this mean the show itself has been renewed for that long? And will it definitely be back next year?
GOUGH: We'll officially find out about season 7 on May 17th [during the CW upfronts], but obviously we feel very confident we'll be back. As for season 8, who knows? There are a lot of factors that will play into that decision, not the least of which is the quality of season 7, so that is what we are focusing on at the moment. If there is an 8th season, that would be the show's last. Every hero may have a beginning, but every story has an end.
iF: Since Michael Rosenbaum’s contract ends up next year, what would happen if the show went on for an 8th season – could the show go on without a Lex Luthor, and how?
GOUGH: Quite honestly, I don't want to speculate on that, only to say if there is an 8th season, we hope Michael will be a part of it in some capacity, but if he chooses not to, the show will go on.
iF: Reportedly, Justin Hartley [the Green Arrow] won’t be back next year – have we seen the last of the archer in the green hoodie? And what about the proto-JLA?
GOUGH: I don't believe you've seen the last of Ollie, or some of his friends. Who knows, when you see him again, he may have more!
iF: There’s been less and less of Lois Lane [Erica Durance] this season since Oliver Queen went off to pursue his JLA activities full-time – are there plans to make her more integral next season?
GOUGH: Absolutely, part of that was because after the Green Arrow run, Erica went off to shoot a movie, but I think you'll see that she will play an integral part in the season finale, and next year we will really start to see the Lois we all know and love.
iF: It was revealed this season that Chloe is herself a "meteor freak", but as yet, apart from her mother’s ability to control her in "Progeny," her abilities have yet to manifest themselves. Why was the decision made to do this, and will her powers be revealed this season, as has been rumored?
GOUGH: The idea that Chloe had a power was always something in the back of our minds, but we didn't want it to be a cheap trick, we wanted the audience to be invested in the character and her relationship with Clark, and if we were going to do it, it was to deepen the character, which we think it does, and will allow us to keep exploring Chloe in season 7. You'll see her power first manifest in the season finale.
iF: Speaking of "Progeny" -- Lynda Carter is Chloe’s mom! How did you manage that?
GOUGH: Lynda was always on our wish list of actors to have on the show. We approached her a couple of times for other episodes, but she was always holding out for a juicier role that played into the show's mythology, so when Chloe's mom came along, she was our first call, and thankfully she said yes.
iF: A few weeks ago, E! Online reported that there would be a death in the season finale. Is this for real, or can you tell us?
GOUGH: Maybe more than one!
iF: What made you decide to produce an episode like "Noir" at this point in the series, and especially so close to the finale? Isn’t it a bit risky to do something as unusual as this?
GOUGH: It is always a risk, and no matter what the fans thought of it, I do believe it was well executed. We had a lot of pipe to lay for the last two episodes of the season, and this was a fancy way to wrap it up in a different box!
iF: What teasers can you give us for the upcoming year – or two?
GOUGH: New Characters, new relationships, and more mythology.
iF: Will there be any other D.C. characters planned for the next season?
GOUGH: Absolutely, stay tuned for an announcement in the late summer.
iF: Do you have a theme mapped out for Season 7 yet?
GOUGH: We just literally started with the writers on Friday, a lot of themes are emerging, so it is still too early to stamp one on the season.
iF: How is MUMMY 3 coming? How did you resolve Rachel Weisz not being in the film?
GOUGH: THE MUMMY 3 starts shooting at the end of July in Montreal and then China for release next summer. It stars Brendan Fraser, Jet Li, Michelle Yeoh, Luke Ford and John Hanna. The character of Evy will be recast with another actress [Maria Bello].

Also this.
Ask Ausiello May 16th column
Quote:
Question: The Smallville season finale airs tomorrow night. Give us something!— Kim
Ausiello: Actually, I literally just finished watching the episode and, as you know, I'm not the biggest Smallville fan, but even I have to admit the episode is pretty fraktacular. Warner Bros. sent it to me on the condition I don't reveal the following things:
• Who dies
• ***'* ******
• Chloe's power
• ******'* ************ ** ******* *********
Among the things I can tease:
• Clark's greatest weakness is going to be his new enemy's greatest strength.
• Lionel's true colors are revealed, and they're not as dark as we imagined.
• Lois has a dead-end run-in with one of Lex's goons in an awesome sequence.
• Clark finally tells Lana his secret again, with very similar results.

I'm excited to see who might die, but I really hate this killing off characters deal because once their dead then a part of the show I love is gone. I say enough of the killing already. Whatever happened to close calls. Back in the day it was enough for a character to get shot, and then guess who did it, now they got to die and who cares who did it. __________________

SPOILER!
Chloe's power is that her tears are able to heal in return for her own Life force.
I knew this before mattro posted it.
as for who dies, I think it says Lex's --something or other, dunno. __________________

Well now death is no longer permenant. Especially in Smallville!! Ausiello even pointed out in his videocast that if you believe that because they show a character "die" on Smallville, don't believe their dead for good!! Still, I agree with you Tim, it is getting old seeing them kill of characters (not just in Smallville). __________________The Bible is so powerful. It's not to be left on your shelf. Well, they said more DC characters are on the way. Who would play who??
Green Lantern??
*Wonder Woman??
Batman (if it actually happens)??
Anyone you can think of.
*Maybe one of these women could play her. If you don't know who they are, look them up.
Kristen Renton
Rachel Bilson
Mischa Barton
Autumn Reeser

Be interesting to see Green Lantern on screen. The only other time other than a cartoon I saw him on was the Justice League pilot and it was a blurry copy. You can see some pics from that show here It wasn't that bad a show, but it never got picked up. It was more of a campy take on the JLA kind of like the Adam West Batman but not quite that funny. __________________

First, Joss Whedon's Wonder Woman movie is apparently dead in the water(read Wizard interview with him for details if you can find it). This does not mean someone else will not be doing the film, but it does open a very slight window of opportunity for the character to appear. Consider the possibility 'wishful thinking' if you like.
Second, Eliza would probably be an excellent Diana. She definitely looks the part of a young WW and she already has the right resume' with her work on Buffy. Which brings up the Whedon connection which makes it the single reason for her not to play the part, should it ever be offered.
As for who could show up, broaden your minds a bit. We could see anyone from Booster Gold to Firestorm to Eclipso, Etrigan the demon, or (really stretching) Darkseid. I'd really like to see some old characters come back personally. Pete, Perry White, and definitely Brainiac are my top three.
It's gonna be a long summer..... __________________Beneath this mask is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea Mr Creedy and ideas are bulletproof.

Well, they made it real easy to see that Lana is NOT dead!! That box truck that went by as Lionel arrived (which blocked his view of Lana "supposedly" getting in her Jeep) was clearly what Lana got in. So, Lana planted a bomb in the Jeep herself so everyone would believe she is dead, and she would not have to worry about Lex coming after her.
Gotta admit, the whole Lana/Clark thing is getting as irritating as the Lois/Clark thing got in the Superman series in the 90s. Put a fork in it already!! I am perplexed as to why it took the phantom to alter its form from Clark to the "Bizzaro Clark" form - weird!!
Do hope the cast enjoys their break, and that it will re-energize them for next season!! It should be good. __________________The Bible is so powerful. It's not to be left on your shelf. It's to outline even the simplest scriptures that can mean so much in building yourself up.

I agree about Lana, since everyone expects that she is really dead because of all the killing going on in tvland, and the fact Smallville actually did kill off a major character in the past, then that leaves the door open to pull a fast one and have Lana pop up later next season with a big surprising shocking twist. Probably happen like at Christmas break, or maybe the end of next season. Doubt if they wait all the way to the end of the year though. __________________

WOW!! Big news!!
Season 7 & More Spoilers
- UPDATED 5/27/07: Mike Ausiello of TV Guide spoke to both Erica Durance and John Glover at the 2007 CW Upfronts. Among the things revealed: Chloe WILL survive her whole "pass out after saving Lois" ordeal, according to Erica... and Glover confirms that Annette O'Toole will not be back as a series regular for Season 7.

Big Things for Season 7?
POSTED 5-27-07
One thing that we keep hearing around here is that there will be big announcements coming this summer about Smallville's seventh season.
The last time we had this level of buzz, we got Aquaman, James Marsters, Tom Wopat, a character death, and one of the best seasons of the series. What could this year's announcements be?
No one's saying anything. A lift on the Batman embargo would be thrilling but unlikely. The return of the Justice League? Possible. Lori Lemaris, or the Legion of Super-Heroes? Who knows. Either way, keep an eye on KryptonSite this summer and as soon as we know anything, we'll let you know on the Spoilers page!

Found something.
Season 7 & More Spoilers
- UPDATED 6/5/07: New scoop from TV Guide's Mike Ausiello: Smallville's producers are apparently looking for an "extremely hot" thirtysomething actor to play a new editor at the Daily Planet. This character will appear in six of Season 7's first eight epiosdes and will be a love interest for Lois Lane. Hopefully this is not the big announcement we hinted at on Rumorville, since the last thing we need is more triangles.

To quote Mattro, "Set faces to stun!" LOL!!!!
Quote: Supergirl Returns!
We had a little hint of her in Season 3's finale episode... now TV Guide is reporting that Clark's Kryptonian cousin may be coming to Smallville on a more permanent basis.
"With his [adopted] father dead and his [adopted] mother moved to Washington [to become a U.S. Senator], and Lana blown up, suddenly there’s some family in his life,'' Smallville creator Al Gough tells TV Guide.
“She has all of Clark’s powers and a couple he doesn’t have yet,” Gough teases. “She can fly. And her response when Clark asks why is ‘obviously girls mature faster than boys.’”
Kara makes her first appearance in the Season 7 premiere. To read more about this new addition, read the link below...

Sorry I've been away. Sick. Anyway, found somethings relating to Supergirl.
Ask Ausiello 7/13
Quote:
Question: Any news on the type of person (age, looks, etc) the CW wants for Supergirl on Smallville?— Nicole
Ausiello: *********** has a detailed casting breakdown, but basically they're looking for an actress who has blonde hair and can pass for 19. Also — and you didn't hear this from me — the hope is that Supergirl will eventually be spun off into her own CW show. But again, you didn't hear that from me.
Question: Is there any truth to the rumor that Smallville is trying to get Kristen Bell to play Supergirl?— Jason
Ausiello: That sounds suspiciously like the sort of baseless rumor I'd start. As awesome as that would be, there's no way KB would take a supporting role at this stage of her career. And, really, who can blame her? The girl's on fire!
Question: Any news on who'll play the new editor of the "Daily Planet" on Smallville (Ausiello Report 6/4)?— Justin
Ausiello: I'll tell you who won't be playing him: the erstwhile Clark Kent Dean Cain. "Interestingly, we want to have Dean on the show this year, but I doubt it's going to be in this role," exec producer Al Gough told my colleague Rich Sands. "We had thought about it, but I don't think we can make that work for a number of reasons, none of which, by the way, are creative. It's scheduling, financial, things like that. But the plan is to have Dean Cain on the show this year." So who is Gough eyeing to play the "Planet" boss? "We'd love to stunt-cast it with a great person, and we're going to audition for that."
Sources: Devoted to Smallville & Ask Ausiello.
There was one more item, but I can't get the whole story. I'll get to it another day. __________________"Immortality! Take it! It's yours!" ~ Brad Pitt (Achillies) - Troy
