SMALLVILLE CASTING
Despite unsourced published reports, actor Michael Cassidy has not signed yet to appear in The CW's Smallville as the new editor-in-chief at The Daily Planet.
It's possible that Cassidy will end up in the role, but as of Monday afternoon that was not official.
Neither the network nor Warner Bros. has announced him in the role.
The character's name is Grant Gabriel. He is scheduled to appear for the first time in the second episode of the upcoming season and might have some romantic involvement with Lois Lane.
The announcement of the character who will be playing Supergirl will be made at Comic-Con International in San Diego on Saturday, July 28.

A female's body is brought to the morgue in the premiere and don't forget there was more than one main female death in the finale.

As previously reported in the June 25 chat, Jimmy Olsen is no longer in the season premiere.

Supergirl Announcement Coming?
Although the network is said to be officially unveiling the new Supergirl at the Comic-Con International in San Diego, TV Guide's Mike Ausiello says that producers are very close to casting someone, and that an announcement may be forthcoming within the next 2 days.
This "someone" he mentions is "a relatively obscure actress."
As soon as anything is announced, we will post it here, so stay tuned! At the current moment we have no idea who has been chosen.
On this week's Ask Ausiello on TVGuide.com, Michael Ausiello has some interesting info about the BIG annoucement of who is going to play the role of Kara.
Question: Now that we know who's gonna play the new "Daily Planet" editor on Smallville, what about Supergirl?— Janine
Ausiello: I hear they're thisclose to locking in a relatively obscure actress. If I were a betting man, I'd say an announcement will come in the next 24-48 hours.

Supergirl Is Cast!
People Magazine has revealed that Laura Vandervoort has nabbed the role of Kara, a.k.a. Supergirl, in the upcoming seventh season of Smallville.
"She's a combination of beauty, intelligence, a certain warmth, and great attitude," Smallville co-creator Al Gough told People. "We've wanted a character to shake things up. She may be Clark Kent's cousin, but that doesn't mean she's going to be the obedient one!"
22-year-old Vandervoort might be most recognizable to fans for her role on The N's Instant Star.
Supergirl is coming to the CW's Smallville. Canadian actress Laura Vandervoort just got the call Wednesday that she has been cast and will start shooting with Tom Welling, Michael Rosenbaum and Aaron Ashmore next week in Vancouver.
"She's a combination of beauty, intelligence, a certain warmth, and great attitude," Smallville co-creator Al Gough tells PEOPLE. "We've wanted a character to shake things up. She may be Clark Kent's cousin, but that doesn't mean she's going to be the obedient one!"
Since mid-May, when DC Comics approved of introducing Supergirl to the Smallville series, creators Gough and Miles Millar have seen hundreds of actresses for the part but found perfection in Vandervoort, 22, of Toronto, who may be known to fans of the cable series Instant Star as Sadie Harrison. "She was speechless but she was very excited," Gough says of Vandervoort's reaction to the news.
Supergirl will be introduced to viewers as Kara, Clark's cousin, who was born on Krypton and has all of Clark's powers plus the ability to fly. Watch for her to spark romance with Jimmy Olsen (Ashmore) as well.

Amen to that. BTW, more details.
LAURA VANDERVOORT CAST AS SMALLVILLE'S SUPERGIRL
Laura Vandervoort has been cast as Supergirl in The CW's Smallville.
The Continuum also has learned that Michael Cassidy on Wednesday completed his deal to play Grant Gabriel, editor of The Daily Planet.
Vandervoort, 22, is another Canadian actress for Smallville -- the show is filmed in Vancouver -- where she joins Kristin Kreuk and Erica Durance. From Toronto, she has dozens of television credits, most notably on the cable series Instant Star, and she guest-starred in an episode of Mutant X.
Vandervoort begins filming next week and will be introduced to the public at Comic-Con International in San Diego.
Supergirl arrives in the Season 7 premiere. Her name is Kara and she is Clark's 19-year-old cousin. She was born on Krypton and is the daughter of Zor-El, Jor-El's brother. Kara possesses all of Clark's powers and one he doesn't yet have -- flying.
Kara also has a strong, rebellious streak that puts her at odds with Clark, and puts her onto Lex's radar. In addition, she takes a romantic interest in Jimmy Olsen.
Cassidy's signing solidifies recent rumors. His character, Grant Gabriel, will be a hot-shot young editor who is brought in "to the get the gray out" of The Daily Planet and make it more accessible to younger readers. He will be featured in a seven-episode arc taking place in the first 10 episodes of Season 7.

Well the dream of many, many, many fans of Superman and 90's TV Show "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman" might become true this season. TV Squad in its coverage of the HBO's TCA reports that Dean Cain himslef revealed that he is in talks with Smallville's producers to play a role on this upcoming season.
Smallville On The Cover Of TV Guide!
TV Guide Magazine will be releasing their annual Sci-Fi Preview next week, and the issue will feature three different covers, each spotlighting a different popular sci-fi series.
Interestingly enough, each cover corresponds to a site in the KryptonSite Network. The other two covers feature Heroes and the upcoming Bionic Woman series. (Those covers will be posted on those respective websites in a few minutes!)
The Smallville cover features Tom Welling and Erica Durance as Clark and Lois, and if you look at the blurb on the cover, you'll see there's at least one new spoiler within. Here it is, below:
Hey Mattro and everybody else that posts spoilers, I was wondering do you want me to create a section for just Smallville Spoilers? I can put it as a branch off of the Smallville section. Then when you post a spoiler you can post it as a new thread which will give it a title and everything. This would give new spoilers more exposure.
Let me know if you like that idea, or just want to keep it like it is. __________________
I know they've been wanting to get Dean Cain on the show for a while, but I know they wanted to have the right role for him to be on the program.

Well, I think everyone knows to look to this thread for spoilers, but I like your idea in that you could see new information more readily. __________________

The Daily Planet Editor Casted!
Posted by Carlo on Jul 16 2007, 09:34 PM | comments (1)
It has been recently learned that Michael Cassidy has completed his deal to play Grant Gabriel, editor of The Daily Planet and possible love interest for Lois Lane.
Grant Gabriel will be a hot-shot young editor who is brought in "to the get the gray out" of The Daily Planet and make it more accessible to younger readers. He will be featured in a seven-episode arc taking place in the first 10 episodes of Season 7.
Cassidy is best known for his role as Zach Stevens in the second season of The O.C. He also has a role in the movie Zoom. In 2007, he starred as Cliff Wiatt in CW series, Hidden Palms.
So I wonder if he'll end up killed since we know Perry takes over. They've already got it planned I see it now. Bring in a new guy make us like him, and then kill him off for ratings. __________________
The Season 7 premiere airs on September 27, and features the introduction of "another strange visitor from the planet Krypton": Clark's 19 year old cousin, Kara.
Kara's spaceship was stuck in suspended animation for 18 years and the dam burst in the Season 6 finale woke her.
Watching over Kara is "another step in Clark's journey," creator Al Gough told TV Guide. "He's no longer in child mode. He's given responsibility over someone else."
Kara has strength, speed, and X-ray vision... plus she can fly.
"He's got to keep her out of trouble and make sure she doesn't use the abilities for the wrong reason," Gough says.
Also in danger in Season 7? Lois. "They're still far from their romantic destiny, but you'll sense that they care for each other," Gough says. He says that Lois will become more of "the Lois Lane we know from the Superman mythology" as she continues to develop as a reporter, landing at the Daily Planet.
The new character of Grant Gabriel, Lois's Daily Planet editor, will have more than a professional interest in Lois.
Armed with the Planet's journalistic credibility, expect Lois to take on the Luthors. "This of course puts her in various stages of danger, much to Clark's chagrin," Gough says. "After all, hell hath no fury like a bald billionaire scorned."
The Justice League may show up again, but Gough says that it will not be happening in the first eight or nine episodes of the season, and that they will most likely show up individually, rather than as a group. "And hopefully we can introduce some new members," Gough says.
You can pick up the new TV Guide this week.
