Got something.  It's small, but it'll do.

As a result of the dam break caused by Clark's struggle with his evil doppelganger, a new super-powered individual enters the struggle... for good or for evil.

Okay.  BLOCKBUSTER NEWS!!!

Lana Lang Lives?
POSTED 8-13-07

It's the Smallville question of the summer: "Is she or isn't she?"

A poster on the KryptonSite Forum claims to have seen evidence that Lana Lang - or a character played by Kristin Kreuk, at least - is back as early as the season's third episode, "Fierce."

So now the question is, if she IS back... then how and when? Is it really Lana? Stay tuned... Season 7 begins on September 27.

Don't tell me anyone (here anyway) actually believed that Lana was killed in that explosion at the end of Phantom!?!?!?!  With all of the scemes Lionel has pulled over the years, I am shocked that he believed such a farce!!

Lana died...

psh, hahahaha. Anyway dh I don't think this was Lionel's doing and there's a reason for that if you watch the episode again, it's subtile, but it's there.

I think you misunderstood me Aero, I did not say Lionel was responsible for Lana's "death" I said I was surprised that Lionel believed such a farce.  However, I'm sure he went along with it to get Clark to take the actions that were necessary.  I already knew why she staged her "death".   Although, I would not miss her if they had killed her off!! (DUH!)

Question: Do you have any news about Lana from Smallville? Is Kristin Kreuk coming back?— Scott

Ausiello: (Spoiler alert) Prepare to not be surprised: Yes, I can confirm that she's coming back. OH...MY GOD!!!  READ THIS!!

Who's Been Duped on Smallville? Find Out

The Smallville season premiere is still weeks away, but my inbox has been overloaded with questions regarding L.L.—not Mr. Cool J (though we have scoop on him today) or Lindsay Lohan, mind you, but one Miss Lana Lang.

Yes, she might have been blown to smithereens in last May's season finale, but as my crack team announced in the spoiler chat on Monday, Kristin Kreuk has signed on for the upcoming season and Lana will definitely be back. So, inquiring fans want to know, how the bloody hell are the writers gonna pull off that?!

Well, Big, Fat Spoiler Alert! Let me be the first to tell you the inside storyline scoop: Lana's salvation involves cloning. Yep, you heard me right. Cloning! The Francinator and Buffy Bot had better step aside, because TV has a new Doublemint twin of freaky-deaky generation.

I'll tell you more in Monday's chat, but for now you gotta tell me in the Comments section below: Am I the only one giggling at the thought of Lana 2.0? I mean, this is Smallville, and I'm sure the writers will knock it out of the park, but I just can't shake the feeling Clana's genesis will somehow involve lonely Lex, a bottle of tequila and a little weird science.

Oh god no.

Whenever a story, be it cartoon, comic, or TV show, adds cloning to the plot, the quality of the show ends.  Right there.  VERY FEW CASES ever have a good quality cloning saga.

Hopefully the real Lana stays alive throught this and Clark is able to get rid of fake lana.  Smallville better do damn good on this otherswise I might be calling it quits.

Well in Lois and Clark's case cloning happened at the wrong time, during their marriage. No one wanted it interrupted by a frog eating cloned Lois Lane. The frog thing was just silly.

The infamous clone saga in the Spider-man comics I actually enjoyed but I think it may have went on for a little too long especially when they announced the Peter Parker we had read over the last 20 years wasn't really Peter Parker but a clone. I guess it was way too shocking and maybe a little insulting to the reader's intelligence.

Anyway Smallville can get away with a clone story as long as they don't carry it on too long, or have it be to disruptive to the overall plot line like the above examples.

Yes, Spider-man is one of the few exceptions to clones, although shocking, it was well written which made up for the gigantic plot twist.

Lana's salvation involves cloning
This makes no sense!!!  With all of the cloak and dagger deaths the Luthors have been involved with, plus all the other "deaths" on Smallville - how are they seriously expecting us to believed Lana died in that explosion when the delivery truck passed b/w our line of sight before the Jeep blew-up.  This reminds me of when the safe house Chloe and her Dad were taken to blew up.  Everyone presumed she died, and I think I read somewhere about how Allison was talking with people about how said it was Chloe was dead prior to the new season (the four season) starting.  Does anyone else think this might be the Smallville's writers attempts to throw us off, or do they really think we're that gullible?

Actually, we'd seen cloning brought in prior to that in the story where a scientist was bringing back gangsters like Bonnie and Clyde, Al Capone, etc.  They even had Clark "die" because he was shot by one of Al Capone's thugs, and the way he was able to bring himself "back to life" was to have Superman use the scientist's technology to clone him - thus making an exact replica of himself as though he had never died (which of course he hadn't )

True but I guess I was thinking of when fans really got ticked and the marriage clone thing really did it. I'm going to have watch that bonnie and clyde one again. Let's see which season was that one?

Second season, the episode was "That Old Gang of Mine".  yes, you're right about the whole frog-clone thing, I think that along with the "will they/won't they" is what led to the downfall of the series.
