Guys I made a new section for general topic discussion. That way if you want to talk about something other than Superman and Smallville you can do so here. Only fans of Superman and Smallville of course. No insurance salesman posting spammy sales links.

Talk about anything as long as it's decent.

I said decent! How did that get in here?

lol, Tim that's good.
why don't you make it one of the main topics?

That has always bothered me about the Hulk. Surprisingly, the fact that a man can put on glasses and comb his hair differently and no one knows who he is has never bother me at all.

That pic was from an actual what if comic book in the 80's. It was a special humor issue.

He must be having a stock of pants and shirts…. Just imagine how many pants would go to waste every time he transformed into hulk… poor guy must be spending half of his salary on clothes… By the way nice pic tim

They show really cool cartoons on Disney channel...
Like Spiderman, fantastic 4, Tarzan...etc... But my favorite was the X men cartoon series, but they don’t show that anymore...

I had a look at the birthdays posted on the superman homepage and there are a lot of people who have been in superman stuff that are born in the month of April. Annette O'Toole and Sam Huntington(the new Jimmy Olsen) are both born on the first but Annette in 1954 and Sam in 1982. Marlon Brnado was born April 3, 1924. John Schneider is April 8, 1960, John Shea is April 14, 1949. A person from the new movie Kal Penn was born on April 23, 1977. Then we have Tom Welling was born on April 26, 1977 and Sam Jones III was born on April 29, 1983 with Lane Smith(Perry White from L& C)born on the same day in 1936. I thought that John Schneider was about 5 years older than that becasue he looked in his mid 20's when he was in The Dukes of Hazzard tv series but it nice to know that I share my birthday with someone who has a place in the small screen superman mythology.

If I had too guess I would have guessed that John Schneider was a year or two older than Annette not six years younger. It means that he would have been about 18 going on 19 when they filmed the pilot for Dukes of Hazzard because the series didn't start until 1979.

He definitely looks older than his years

Hey Tim or anyone who is 30 or older and might be able to answer my question. It was brought my attention that the Australian movie Mad Max was dubbed with American accents when it was released because apparently the USA censors thought that you(the American audiences) would have trouble understanding the Australian accents in the movie. Is this true or not?
Posted:  03 Oct 2006 15:51   Last Edited By: Tim
I don't know if that really happened, and as far as understanding Australian accents, only a problem if the Australian were talking really fast.

Haven't seen Mad Max in years.

I like watching this English show called "Life on Mars" about a detective in a car accident who can't determine if he's still in a coma or has been transported to the 1970's. It's a really cool time travel show, but sometimes when those English fellas get to talking super fast you can't understand a word.

Seems to me Austrailian accents are easier to understand though.

I agree, and fwiw I think Mad Max was not dubbed

The reason I asked is because we have a tv show called 20 to 1 over here and they count down different things each week from 20 to 1. This week they had the 20 greatest Australian movies and when they got to Mad Max they made a special note of the fact that when it originally got released in the USA it was dubbed with American accents. Maybe when you're in the video/dvd store next time have a look at the back cover of the video if they still have it on vhs. Here is something for you to think about Tim. When I was at college years ago there was a Canadian girl in one of my classes and we got to talking about the fact that there are many different variations of the American accent depending on where you go in the USA much like different variations of the English accent depending on where you go in Great Britain. However there is one Australian accent for the whole country much like Canada has one accent for the whole country and we both thought that was a funny little quirk about the four "English" speaking countries.
