Kwai Chang Caine in Kung Fu (David Carradine)

James Bronson in Then Came Bronson (Michael Parks)

I haven't ever heard of "Then Came Bronson"

I remember watching Kung Fu. Kind of wierd the way they brought it back and put it in the modern era like they did for a while. That dude could fight!

I always wanted to learn kung fu.

wow Tim you sure like the oldies   My favorite of all time, would be either Christopher Reeves as Superman, or John Wesley Shipp as The Flash.

Of the tv super heroes it would have to be superman with the incredible hulk a close second but any of the action adventure shows from the late 70's onwards. Aerolectric, if you think that Tim likes the oldies then I guess that would probably make you a youngie wouldn't it?  Maybe in the age range of mid to late teens or just turned 20, as a guess. I think the reason that Tim, myself and a handful of others like like shows from the 70's and 80's is because that is when we were growing up and they made for a great escape from our normal lives.

True, true, I was a kid when the Six Million Dollar Man and the Incredible Hulk were on the air. I was a tv and comic book junky. I watched not just prime time but all the old black and white tv show reruns.

I thought of another old hero that I wish would get air time on TV today. The Rifleman with Chuck Connors was way ahead of it's day. That show rocked. It was serious western, but with intense action scenes. I used to watch it in the afternoons after school. It came on right after F-Troop.

Yep I would always watch Steve, Jamie, David and don't forget about the very beautiful Diana. The fact is I have video collection aswell as a dvd collection and about 5 years ago I came across the pilot for The Six Million Dollar Man on video and just had to buy it. It was made in 1973 which about 3 years before the show went to air. I guess it took the studios a little while to warm to the idea of the show. Ahh F-Troop, now that was one sitcom that really used to crack me up a lot just like Giligan's Island and Get Smart. They were always so stupid that you just had to laugh.
Posted:  11 Apr 2006 14:54
Yeah F-Troop rocked. You know I used that watch that show "ghostbusters" the F-troop guys played on, but I can only barely remember anything about it. If I hadn't seen it on the internet a couple of years ago I might have completely forgotten all about it. Do you remember that show from Saturday mornings? Or how about "Monster Squad"? Talk about obscure I don't think those shows have been seen since their original broadcast.

I'm hoping the Six Million Dollar Man will be put on DVD sooner or later. I don't understand what's taking so long. Heck almost everything else in the known universe is on DVD right now.

Yeah I haven't seen it anywhere on the sites that tell you when old tv shows are coming to dvd, I wonder why? I can't wait for them to make a big screen movie about it. I think that it has been in the works for about 5 or 6 years now, gee that scenario sounds familiar doesn't it? They could shoot it in Canada and have Tom play the lead role.
Posted:  12 Apr 2006 15:58
I would like to see a movie, but I hope they get someone that looks like Lee Majors for old time's sake.

I can't think of anyone in hollywood that bears a resemblence to him, can you? I know his son, Lee Majors II, does some low budget tv movies, maybe they could use him?
Posted:  13 Apr 2006 15:32   Last Edited By: Tim
Yeah, but you know come to think of it even he doesn't really look that much like him does he? Of course I don't think I've seen him on TV since those Diet Pepsi commercials of the 80s.

Hey superjon if you ever feel inspired to write about comic books, movie, or tv shows email me at superherouniverse@yahoo.com and I'll post it. You are very knowledgeable, and I always need good articles.

No pressure just if you get bored one rainy day. You know.

favorite hero : Superman im sory but lets face it he rocks my friend says batman could whoop sure  he could if he actually had superpowers!
Posted:  18 Apr 2006 12:19
Yeah no worries Tim I'll do so if can think about something that might help you or just to have my say. I will tell you one thing I am very glad that they didn't go with Jim Carrey for the lead in Six Million Dollar Man because I like his comedies but the movie would just die at the box office if they were stupid enough to go that way with it. I am not sure if there are any new, young up and coming actors in hollywood who would be able to do the role justice. Maybe Dominic Purcell or Wentworth Miller from Prison Break could do the job.
Posted:  18 Apr 2006 18:00
Oh yeah I love that show. Prison Break and 24 are great, but now that they are on the same night I'm a nervous wreck. The intensity of these two shows is too much for my heart to take sometimes.

Clark kentknud my favorite hero is Superman of course. We're talking about other TV heroes everyone might have. Batman could whoop Superman if only he had powers like you said. Of course even though Batman has martial arts training and other fighting skills, he might not beat Superman even with powers since Superman has had years to learn to use his powers.

Really Tim they are on the same night where you are, well that's a bit of bad luck because where I am they on Wednesday night and Thursday night so I don't have that problem. My favourite superhero is Superman too but the reason I like Batman aswell is because of the fact that he doesn't have any superpowers and still gets classed as a SUPERHERO. I guess his genius and outstanding fighting abilities are what make him a SUPERHERO and not just a hero like the average joe or jane in the street who does something brave once in their lives.
Posted:  20 Apr 2006 22:40
That and he fights guys with super powers and Batman also has a costume that no normal human being would wear.

You know I've always thought since Batman is classified as a super hero then shouldn't the Lone Ranger and Zorro also be classified as super heroes.

Did you know that the Green Hornet and the Lone Ranger are related?

Huh? What do mean by that Tim? Do the two men who played the characters are related in real life? By the way the Lone Ranger and Zorro were the superheroes before there were superheroes but in today's terms they would get their butts handed to them on a silver platter by Batman and Robin. 1...2...3... your outta here old west dudes. lol
Posted:  21 Apr 2006 16:27
I think old Zorro and the Lone Ranger could handle Bats at least on their own turf.

I found out a while back surfing the net that in the comics the Green Hornet is the great nephew of the Lone Ranger. I don't how much this aspect of the stories have been explored but I did see in one issue of a modern Green Hornet comic that he had a picture in the background of what looked like to be the Lone Ranger and I think he referred to him as his uncle. I'll have to see if I can find that one midst my collection.

Not a chance old mate because what they know about hand to hand combat compared to Batman is, at best, minimal. Think about it, old west fisticuffs against seven years of ninja training,... good luck and don't forget to call the paramedics before any punches are thrown because Loney and Zorro are gonna need them. It would be like the real Frank Dux (not Van Dam) up against, say, Gary Cooper or John Wayne. OUCH BIG TIME! Too much hitting speed and too many different hitting weapons to call upon.
Posted:  22 Apr 2006 15:02
Well you forget the Lone Ranger doesn't have a code against using guns and he can wound someone without killing them. So maybe he could shoot the batarangs right out of Bats hands. Did you see the last Zorro movie with Banderas? Dude was doing cartwheels and practically flying through the air. Don't get me wrong I'm not against Batman. I'd just like to think the old guys could hold their own though.

I did some research on that guy Frank Dux. From Imdb -

Quote:
Frank Dux is a Martial Art's legend surrounded in both fame and controversy. In the early 1980s, Dux was the center of a now-famous article in a well-known martial art's magazine, highlighting his career as an underground fighter for a secret organization located in Asia. A number of years later, Dux's fight career was the subject of Jean-Claude Van Damme's hit movie, Bloodsport. The ending credits lists Dux's fight stats, crediting him with 56 consecutive knockouts, the fastest knockout, and the most victories (over 300). It was following this, that Dux became the center of controversy, with many fans and martial artists casting an unbelieving eye in his direction. Regardless of this, Frank Dux is still considered a martial art's legend.

Ok, he might be a little tough for the Duke but you know the Duke wasn't exactly a weakling. They say he once knocked out a guy while punching through a door.

I've seen Bloodsport a bunch of times. Why doesn't this guy Frank Dux make his own action flicks? Is he too old?

I guess we will have to agree to disagree, hey mate. As far I know he runs a martial arts studio in L A somewhere. I am guessing that he didn't want that much limelight on his life. I think he is about mid to late fifties. I know that he does some movie fight choreography and that he had a big falling out with Van Dam because he didn't get paid for one of Van Dam's movies that he work on about eight or ten years. I know Van Dam can fight pretty well in real life but I don't think that he is stupid enough or egotistical enough to take on Frank for real.

I don't think I would either. You ever notice that Chuck Norris never seems to age. Just how old is that guy?
