Superboy was a fun series! What are your favorite episodes?
Posted:  13 Jul 2005 21:03
I missed a lot of them. It was a busy time for me. I did get a vhs tape of some of them from the Gerard Christopher site. The best episodes on it are The Roads not Taken part 1 and 2. I wish they would show them again on TV. I would love to have the dvd collection. Gerard Christopher (superboy star) is charging 159 dollars for the second season autographed on dvd.

Does anyone remember the Superboy with John Haymes Newton?
Posted:  12 Aug 2005 12:22
Yes I do remember the first series with John Haymes-Newton and I was wondering why he was replaced. If anyone was wondering he has appeared in Desperate Housewives twice as a gay activist. If you are wondering why I watch the show it is because I have always been a fan of Teri Hatcher and Eva Longoria is absolutely beauiful aswell.

I thought that was him. Uh... My wife makes me watch the show.. honest. I think he got replaced on Superboy because of his wild party lifestyle and drinking habit. He also guest starred on Walker Texas Ranger, Melrose Place, and Tru Calling.

the reason Gerard Christopher charges so damn much for the episodes is he has no acting career anymore so he has to make money somehow.

He should do like Adam West and sign autographs for extra money. At a recent adventure con I saw Adam West, Lou Ferrigno, and that Freddie Krueger actor racking up on signing autographs.

I don't like it when hasbeen or wannabe actors charge money for an autograph because it tells me that they were great in their day but have done nothing notable since then or will do in the close future. The kids look up to and idolise these people and I think autographs should always be free. Think about this, if these people are running out of money and need to charge people for autographs then maybe they should eat some humble pie and get a real job just like the rest of us.

Well, I agree and disagree with you. When I first found out you had to pay for autographs was a couple of years ago when I went to my first adventure con. I was going to take a snapshot of the General Lee that was parked out front and some guys said you can't take that picture unless you take it with Catherine Bach inside, and there will be a charge of course. That irritated me. In a perfect world actors would grant their fans free autographs and greet them at conventions just for the fun of it, but the other side of it is this. You have to ask yourself what is their motivation to go from convention to convention. We all like to get paid, so I understand where they are coming from. As far as getting a real job, now you know a guy ain't going to work at McDonalds if he can get 20 bucks every 5 minutes signing autographs. It's the American way, supply and demand.

I am a fan of the Superboy series and still have some eps somewhere in my house. lol Tho the first time the series started it was hard to catch all the eps when you have a TV station that changes the time slot on a show becuase it might get in the way of a football game or any sport. Thus hating some shows going on syndication becuase they always stick shows on a dumb times lot lol like 8am. Well When Second season begin another network picked the show up and had it in Saturday mornings and then afternoons around 1pm. At least at that time slot it was never taken off. So I got to see most of the eps season after season. Season one was good but I missed alot of the episodes and not able to catch them on re-runs. So when Second season came out everyone but Stacy was changed and it took the show into a different approach Clark in the first season wasn't that nerdy and season two and after made Clark to be a nerd. Almost like in the Superman movies lol oh well it's all good anyway. I wish they all came out on DVD we can only hope soon!

I think there is some problem with the copyright keeping it from being brought to dvd. Man I hate that. It would be awesome to get it on dvd at a affordable price.

It turns out that the reason for John being replaced by Gerard was because, according to him anyway, there was a couple of accidents on the set during shooting of the first series and that meant that he, John, felt he wanted more money for danger pay. He accidently got thrown into some powerlines whilst being suspended during one of the flying sequences luckily for him the lines were insulated. The drinking and partying was a press release put out by the studio to cover their own butts because he said he doesn't drink and prefers to train hard with his martial arts, weights and meditation.  If his version of events is true then I don't blame him for wanting more money and I think the studio was kind of cheap not to oblige his request then replace him for complaining too much.
