To quote myself...

Quote:
That wouldn't be a great idea. I'm afraid I would have to ask Superman to take a couple more laps around the earth to fix that.

sigh.

Lex Luthor got a strand of Superman's hair on Superman 4 to come up with his super powered bad guy whatever his name was. Was it solar man, no ..radiation man..no sun man.

I was thinking about the whole idea of Jason being superman's son and I thought that it might be a part of greater storyline that Bryan Singer and the other writers are trying to develop for the new series of superman movies. Singer and co. are a great story tellers and we know that they would be thinking very long term because we all know that they like to develop a storyline that rolls from one movie to the next. Tell me if any of this is a good idea and makes any sense to anyone else. What if the idea of having introduce us all to Jason in this movie is so that as the franchise grows he eventually becomes superman himself. If this movie is set after S2 and they want superman to have a successor then who better to take over the mantle then his son. If you look at the idea from a logical point of view then they will continue to age him about 3 or 4 years with each new movie so that by then end of Brandon's run in the suit, in about 10 years, they don't just replace him like they did with Chris but they actually have Doomsday kill superman just like they did in the comic all those years ago. Then Jason would be about 17 or 18 by the end of this series with superman showing him how to use all his powers to protect mankind throughout the entire movie series. Then they could then make a couple of superboy movies which flow into the new superman movies. Well what about that for an idea people?

Sounds interesting but I don't think they would ever kill Superman permanently and let his son take over.

Yes, Tim, but this way the individual person dies but the superhero never dies. Also if they keep doing that with storyline the idea of superman being Earths's greatest protector is simply passed form one generation to the next. Also like I said Singer and co. don't ever think about their comics brought to life on the big screen as being just one off movies they think long term or in this case very long term, over the next 20 years. Think about this Tim what kind of box-office records do you think the movie would set if they did kill superman? I say about $100 million in the first day in the USA alone. Titanic and Spider-man 2 would be chicken feed compared to the revenue that kind of scandal would create in the movie world.

Yeah, but you know if Superman Returns would have had a good slug fest between Superman and Zod or Doomsday in the middle of Metropolis with today's effects and added a lot of feel good golly gee whiz, mom, the flag, and apple pie feeling to it everyone and his neighbor would have been watching Superman Returns this fourth of July.

Instead we got an artistically good movie, but not a wildly successful really fun Superman movie.

I guess I'm not personally too crazy about killing off Superman either, but that's just me. It would have to be a killer script to make it work.

What's the bet that they have Lex somehow bring Doomsday into the picture to try to kill superman once and for all.
Posted:  20 Jul 2006 14:25
That would be cool. I just hope they know to make the fight scenes last longer than the earthquake scenes.

Hey apparently the comic version of SR is much more indepth than the movie which makes sense, does anyone have a copy of it and how does it compare to the movie?
Posted:  13 Aug 2006 00:07
i think it might be a little different because of the deleated scenes. i don't know?

i dont read the comics or nothing, but i recentlyread abook called " The Death and Life of Superman "
in that book, doomsday kills superman and the world has to go on without him for the magority of the book. they introduce JL, supergirl, superboy, the man of steel, the eradicator, and cyborg ( not the 1 lee thompson young portrayed on smallville )
ofcourse, superman eventually comes back from the dead and saves metropololis

did they have comic books with that senario?
what i read was a single novel

I agree about superman four it was bad and the worst thing about it was the flighting shots.

Louis Lane's boy should have all the powers of superman when he was a little boy because if you really think about it he the boy is only half from krypton?

[superman's boy no good!!]they shouldn't of had Louis Lane have a kid because it complicates things more than when is comes to the storyline. So how will they use him...there can't be to  superman's.
